7 Over the last few decades, internationalization and global integration have become strategic imperatives. To survive and prosper today, companies must have a vision that includes being a global organization. Business managers need to have the skills to implement strategy across borders, to manage highly diverse organizations operating in a more and more complex global world economy, and to build a strong leadership culture. We need to realize that opportunities arise because the global world is no longer simply a source of new markets and cost saving factors: it is a source of innovation. The goal of the course is providing an international perspective on management, the cultural knowledge and global vision needed to operate in an international context. This program presents concepts, frameworks and tools to understand the relevance, challenge, and management of global integration in multinational corporations. The course is informed by management practice with a combination of lectures, case studies, class discussions and executive seminars, and exploits synergies with the course of Strategic Management (37056, 37176). 7

8 Key topics Global Strategies Globalization and global trends The role of technology in globalization The rising of global interdependence Design global strategies Economic opportunities in the BRICS and beyond International Management International strategic management Organizational design of multinational corporations Foreign market entry strategies International merger and acquisition The role of strategic alliances in international business 8

You will be helped to face complex and unstructured problems in global business to provide a solid foundation for managerial decision making. 9
