How that works is you will be billed for each form your tax return requires. We have listed our prices for the most common forms below for your convenience. If you can't find what you need, or have forms not listed below, please do not hesitate to call, or stop by for a Firm Quote specific to your situation. Why do we charge per form instead of an hourly rate? We feel if a client's return is very simple with few forms they should not be charged the same amount as someone who has a very complex tax return with many additional forms. For example: Let's say Mary has a simple 1040 with a Schedule A. She has to find us a couple of pieces of missing information for her mortgage deductions and medical bills. With phone calls, follow-ups, totaling up all her deductions, and research time, her tax return could take two hours. Now let's say John has a very complex 1040 with Schedules A, B, C, Complex D, E page 2, a lot of heavy investing activity, several W-2 forms, seven or eight 1099-DIV forms, 1099-SA form and on and on. His return may only take two hours to complete, but requires extensive work and highly specialized knowledge. Both tax returns took two hours. Why should Mary pay the same price as John? We strive to be fair in our billing by leveling the playing field: you only pay for the forms you use. Most work can be completed while you wait!
