2 Primavera History 2 / 14 Primavera Inc. started as a developer of Project Management software since 1983 with Primavera P3 product - a product with a huge success that is still being used worldwide Between 1990 and 2006 Primavera made a series of development of new versions and acquisitions of successful products in their field ( Eagle Ray Software Systems TeamPlay, Evolve, ProSight and PertMaster) In 2008 it was the turn of Primavera Inc. to be bought by Oracle, becoming the main component of Project Management suite for Oracle products

4 Portfolio Management vs. Project Portfolio Management 4 / 14 Portfolio Management vs. Project Portfolio Management Portfolio Management is a larger area than the Project Portfolio. Primavera has made significant investment into the Project Portfolio Management capabilities of the core products based on the definition: Project Portfolio Management organizes a series of projects into a single portfolio consisting of reports that capture project objectives, costs, resources and timelines that fulfill the same organization objective. Portfolio Management (former ProSight) from Primavera is a solution aimed at the Portfolio level and has significant capabilities based on the expanded definition of what a Portfolio and Portfolio Management are: Portfolio Management - The processes, practices and specific activities to perform continuous and consistent evaluation, prioritization, budgeting, and finally selection of investments that provide the greatest value and contribution to the strategic interest of the organization. while Portfolio - A collection of investments that aims to maximize value while constraining risk.

With it, project and program managers can: Propose initiatives that align with the organization s strategy and mission. Prioritize and select investments with strong business case justification. Track activities and communicate performance results. Review portfolio performance in real time and compare to past or future data. Adjust course as a result of portfolio reviews increasing, decreasing, or withdrawing investment funding where appropriate.
