3 Introduction The Aastra 6739i, a new member of the carrier-grade, open-standards based 67xi SIP portfolio, brings leading edge communications technology to the desktop in a stylish global design. Featuring a 5.7 full color high resolution VGA touch screen display, the 6739i offers an intuitive graphical user interface, touch screen softkeys, full duplex wideband audio speaker and handset, dual Gigabit Ethernet ports, built-in bluetooth interface technology, and a USB port. The 6739i also is equipped with multiple headset connection options and extensive call management capabilities. This 6739i IP telephone has all the features of a regular business phone, allowing you to make and receive calls, transfer, conference and more. The 6739i IP telephone provides communications over an IP Network using the SIP IP telephony protocol. The easy-to-use touch-screen technology allows you to interact with features and functions on the phone faster and more conveniently. Phone Features Large 5.7 full VGA (640x480) color touch screen display and backlight Intuitive graphical user interface and navigation menus Two built-in 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet switch ports - lets you share a connection with your computer. Inline power support (based on 802.3af Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) standard) which eliminates power adapters Built-in Bluetooth technology for headset support Existing 675xi Expansion Module support USB port support (for future use) Aastra Hi-Q Audio Technology Full-duplex speakerphone for handsfree calls Additional headset connection options: modular RJ jack, built-in EHS/DHSG port Up to 9 lines with 3 call appearance lines with multi-proxy support XML support for productivity-enhancing applications Call Control Dialing a number 1. The active dialpad allows you to press the numbers on the keypad to dial the number you wish to call without taking the phone off hook. Or 1. Take the phone off-hook by: a. lifting the handset b. pressing Speaker/Headset Key, or c. pressing a line/call appearance Key 2. At the dial tone, press the numbers on the keypad to dial the number you wish to call. Page 3 of 8
4 Muting a Call 1. You can use the Mute key to mute the handset, headset, or speakerphone. When you use the mute key on your phone, you cannot be heard on an active call or on a conference. For muted calls, the handsfree LED flashes and the Mute key LED is ON. 2. To switch mute on or off, press the Mute key again. Answering an incoming Call Press the line/call appearance button for the incoming call. Press the Answer button. Press the Speaker/Headset button for handsfree speakerphone or headset operation. Lift the handset for handset operation. If the phone is already connected to a call, pressing the line/call appearance button for the new incoming call automatically places the connected call on hold and answers the new call. To reconnect to a party, press the line/call appearance button for that call. If you do not answer the call, the caller goes to voic if voic has been configured for your extension. You can press the Silence button to silence the ringing on the incoming call. Sending an Incoming Call to Voic You can send an incoming call directly to voic without answering the call using any of the methods in the following procedure. Do nothing and let the incoming call go directly to voic . Pressing the Reject button. Press the Goodbye Key without picking up the handset. If all of the available lines on your phone are busy, any additional incoming calls go directly to voic . Your phone screen displays a voic icon along with the number of waiting messages, if you have unheard messages. Placing a Call on Hold You can place an active call on hold by pressing the Hold key. When you place a call on hold, only your phone can retrieve the call. 1. Connect to an active call (if not already connected). 2. Press the Hold key on the phone or the button on the screen. The line/call appearance LED begins to flash slowly and the Message Waiting Indicator (MWI) flashes quickly. The screen displays the information about the caller on hold. An incremental timer clocks the amount of time that the caller has been on hold. To let your caller know that they are still on hold, music plays softly. The line/call appearance LED for the call on hold remains flashing to indicate that you are still connected. Page 4 of 8
5 Automatic Hold When juggling between calls, you do not have to press the hold button to go from one call to the next. The phone automatically puts your current call on hold as soon as you press a new line/call appearance button. If you have more than one call on hold, you can reconnect to a held call by pressing the line/call appearance button where that call is being held. Press Goodbye to disconnect the call. Retrieving a Held Call Press the line/call appearance button where the call is held to reconnect to a call. Press Goodbye to disconnect the call. Transfer a Call 1. Connect to Party 1 (if not already connected). Party 1 is the party you want to transfer. 2. Press the Transfer Key. 3. Dial the number for Party 2 4. Press the Transfer Key a second time to complete the transfer. Conference a Call 1. Connect to Party 1 (if not already connected). Party 1 is the party you want to conference. 2. Press the Conference Key. 3. Enter the number for the next Party on the keypad and press Dial on the touchscreen. 4. When the next Party answers, press the Conference Key a second time to complete the conference. 5. To add more parties, repeat Steps 2 through 4. Note: you can conference up to six callers including yourself. Joining Two Active Calls in a Single Conference 1. Begin with active calls on two different lines (for example, Line 1 and Line 2 have active calls). 2. Press the Conference Key. 3. Press the Lines key on the touchscreen. The screen displays the status of all 9 possible lines configurable on the phone. 4. Press the Line button of the other active line you would like to join to the conference. 5. The two active calls link into a conference call on Line 1 End a Call To end a call, you first need to connect or reconnect to the call if not already connected (for example, if your caller is on hold). Press the Goodbye key to end the call. Setup Options Configure the phone for use with a wireless headset 1. Select the OPTIONS key Page 5 of 8
6 2. On the touchscreen, select AUDIO 3. Select Audio Mode and change the option to either Speaker/Headset or Headset/Speaker 4. Select Headset Device and make the appropriate selection based on your type of headset a. Wired b. DHSG (Wireless but no Bluetooth) c. Bluetooth 5. Select Headset Mic Volume and set it to you preference a. Low b. Medium c. High Change the Ring Tone 1. Select the OPTIONS key 2. On the touchscreen, select AUDIO 3. Select Ring Tone and set to your preference 4. When finished, select the Goodbye key to return to your home screen Change the Brightness Level 1. Select the OPTIONS key 2. On the touchscreen, select Display 3. Select Brightness Level to set or change the brightness of the display 4. When finished, select the Goodbye key to return to your home screen Program Speeddial Softkeys on the Aastra 6739i telephone 1. Select the OPTIONS key 2. On the touchscreen, select SOFTKEYS to pull up the list of keys on the phone 3. Select the softkey to be programmed (e.g., Empty) 4. Touch the TYPE button 5. Touch Speeddial to program a speeddial number 6. Touch the LABEL field 7. Use the QWERTY keyboard to input the name for the softkey 8. Touch VALUE field 9. Use the QWERTY keyboard to input the number for the softkey 10. Touch SAVE to save the changes 11. Call Forwarding No Answer Activation 1. Press * Enter the phone number to forward calls to when you do not answer the phone. 3. The service is activated. Call Forwarding No Answer Deactivation 1. Press * The call Forwarding No Answer service is deactivated. Call Forwarding No Answer to Voic Activation 1. Press * The service is activated. Call Forwarding No Answer to Voic Deactivation 1. You answer the ringing call at the specified extension. Directed Call Pickup with Barge-In 1. Press * Enter the extension where the call is either ringing or ongoing. You answer or join the call of the specified extension. Do Not Disturb Do Not Disturb Activation 1. Press *78. DND is activated. Do Not Disturb Deactivation 1. Press *79. DND is deactivated. Miscellaneous Last Number Redial 1. Press *66. The last outgoing phone number you dialed is redialed. Music on Hold per call Deactivation 1. Press *60. The service is deactivated for this call.
