ABSTRACT Campus Anywhere is a concept of online classroom which provides live lectures from the professors. This project is almost exact simulation of the conventional classroom or lecture where professor takes class filled with students. The positive side of this project is that the number of students in class is not a problem. The online classroom that is prepared in this project helps professors as well as the students as none should hurry and run to the classrooms. The lecture can start at the place they are at the instant. The main concept of the project is that there is simplex video communication between professor and students i.e. the professor s video will be streamed and sent over to the students this helps students visualize what actually professor is trying to say. In addition the desktop of the professor is shared among all the students which will work as board. Now for the students to communicate with professor or to ask questions they can send text to the professor which text flashes on the professor s as well as all the students screen. The professor if finds question not so important then he/she is able to text back that student with answer. All the professors have a notice board where he/she can publish notices for the students. The professor also has authority to kick out the students from the class or to mute students i.e. not allow them to communicate. Students on the other hand has option to record the audio of the professor so that he can listen to it later also if needed. All the professors as well as the students is provided with a unique login id and password. The identity of the student is open to the professor but anonymous to the other students. ii

1.0 INTRODUCTION This project Campus Anywhere is based on the concept of distance education where professors can give lectures from distant places. The first distance education course in the modern sense was provided by Sir Isaac Pitman in the 1840s, who taught a system of shorthand by mailing texts transcribed into shorthand on postcards and receiving transcriptions from his students in return for correction - the element of student feedback was a crucial innovation of Pitman's system. This scheme was made possible by the introduction of uniform postage rates across England from From then different means of distant education have been practiced till today producing E-Learning. This project is on online class room which is an online learning environment. This implements the concept of E-Learning. E-learning is the use of electronic media and information and communication technologies (ICT) in education. It is broadly inclusive of all forms of educational technology in learning and teaching. The environment can be web-based and accessed through a portal or software-based and require a downloadable executable file. E-learning includes numerous types of media that deliver text, audio, images, animation, and streaming video, and includes technology applications and processes such as audio or video tape, satellite TV, CD-ROM, and computer-based learning, as well as local intranet/extranet and web-based learning. Information and communication systems, whether free-standing or based on either local networks or the Internet in networked learning, underlying many e-learning processes. E-learning can occur in or out of the classroom. It can be self-paced, asynchronous learning or may be instructor-led, synchronous learning. E-learning is suited to distance learning and flexible learning, but it can also be used in conjunction with face-to-face teaching, in which case the term blended learning is commonly used. Many schools and businesses have rolled out e-learnings to provide synchronous distance education. E-learning software applications often employ multiple synchronous technologies, such as web conferencing, video conferencing, live streaming, and web-based VoIP to provide remote students with the ability to collaborate in real time. To enhance the educational process, applications may also provide students with asynchronous communication tools, such as message boards and chat capabilities. The project Campus Anywhere will use modern communication technology via internet or may even wok in an intranet. A web based application will provide interactive live lectures to the students provided by the professors. This project will 1
have flexible GUI i.e. easy to operate interface. The users will be able to work easily resulting in time saving. This project will be a step to build an online campus in the today s world of cloud computing helping the students to get opportunity to get classed from the best and experienced professors of the world. This will not only help students but also helps save the precious time of the professors. 2
2.0 OBJECTIVES AND SCOPES The main objectives of this project are: i. To provide lectures from the best professors to the students throughout the world ii. To provide interactive classes online The scopes of this project are: i. Universities where the lectures can be provided via internet ii. Rural places where the professors are not available 3
3.0 METHODOLOGY The project is designed in following different stages. 1. Project Initiation At First, the project was initiated and analysis of project was started. The system requirements of project were collected and then user requirements and functional and non-functional requirements. At this stage all the documentation part and analysis part was completed which took around 4 days. 2. Design of Database In design part, database was designed using MYSQL which consist of creating different tables for professor login, student login, notice etc. 3. Interface Design In this period user interface was designed and then platforms for JAVA programming was prepared. This is main initiation of project. 4. Coding with Unit Testing In this stage main coding of project was started with unit testing. It took one and half month to complete coding of project. Coding was done with studying of new thing that became obstacles for us and help was taken from our respected teachers. In this section unit testing was also done where different error was encountered and solved. 5. Integration Different modules that were created in stage 4 were integrated to obtain complete project. 6. Final Testing Now error found during integration of modules were removed and the final product is tested. 7. Release Finally the output of project is obtained and final product released. In overall it took 63 days to complete project. 4

5.0 PROBLEMS FACED During development of this project we faced following problems - Lack of project time - Lack of knowledge 8
6.0 LIMITATIONS Although this project have capability of online teaching, it lacks some features which are required in teaching. Some Limitations of this project are listed below: 1. Student cannot send private message to the professor. 2. We cannot have video conferencing with professor. 3. Mobile can be an issue itself. 4. Lack of Attendance facility 5. Only professor notice is allowed, University notice is not available 6. Lack of both way video communication 9
7.0 FUTURE ENHANCEMENT Future Enhancement of this project will be - To Provide attendance facility - Private messaging will be allowed - University Notice will be published - Both way video communication will be made possible 10

9.0 CONCLUSION Honestly speaking, our project started with an attitude of attaining the mandatary award in the partial fulfillment of the requirement for the degree of Bachelor of Computer Engineering. But as we proceeded on, our attitude is changed into developing something that could be feasible in the present. A new enthusiasm for knowing something started to arose as we entered into it. The project so far has been very challenging and helpful in broadening our knowledge in respective subject matters. 14
