17 CHAPTER 4 Plumbing Fixtures 1. The maximum water use per washing cycle for high efficiency domestic dishwashers shall be gallons. 2. All installed dishwashers shall be Energy Star rated.

19 NONWATER URINAL REQUIRMENTS Listed fixture that meets ASME A Follow cleaning and maintenance procedures established by the manufacturer. Provide water distribution line rough-in to the urinal location to allow for the installation of an approved backflow prevention device in the event of a retrofit.

20 CHAPTER 4 Plumbing Fixtures (Cont) (5) Provide water distribution and fixture supply piping, sized as required elsewhere in this code, roughed-in immediately adjacent to each waterless urinal fixture installed. For additional information, see the California Health and Safety Code Section

21 CHAPTER 4 Plumbing Fixtures Metered faucets - All faucets in public restrooms shall be self-closing or self-closing metering faucets.

24 CHAPTER 6 Water Supply Hot and Cold Water Required. In occupancies where plumbing fixtures are installed for private use, hot water shall be required for bathing, washing, laundry, cooking gpurposes, p dishwashing or maintenance.

25 CHAPTER 6 Water Supply (Cont) In occupancies where plumbing fixtures are installed for public use, hot water shall be required for bathing and washing purposes.

26 CHAPTER 6 Water Supply (Cont) This requirement shall not supersede the requirements for individual temperature control limitations for public lavatories, bathtubs, whirlpool bathtubs and shower control valves.

27 CHAPTER 6 Water Supply Approved plastic materials shall be permitted to be used in water service pp piping, provided that where metal water service piping is used for electrical grounding purposes, replacement piping therefore shall be of like materials. Exception: Where a grounding system acceptable to the Authority Having Jurisdiction is installed, inspected, and approved, metallic pipe shall be permitted to be replaced with nonmetallic pipe.

28 CHAPTER 6 Water Supply Plastic water service Plastic materials for water service piping outside underground shall have a blue insulated copper tracer wire or other approved conductor installed adjacent to the piping.

33 CHAPTER 7 Sanitary Drainage The unit equivalent of plumbing fixtures shown in Table 7-3 shall be based on the size of the trap required, and the unit equivalent of fixtures and devices not shown in Table 7-3 shall be based on the size of trap or trap arm. Rated discharge capacity in GPM (gallons per minute) in accordance with Table 7-4.

34 CHAPTER 7 Sanitary Drainage Maximum drainage fixture units for a fixture trap and trap arm loadings for sizes up to four (4) inches are as follows:

36 CHAPTER 8 Indirect Waste Each waste pipe receiving or intended to receive the discharge of any fixture into which acid or corrosive chemical is placed, and each vent pipe connected thereto, shall be constructed t of Chlorinated Poly(vinyl- l chloride) (CPVC), Polypropylene (PP), Polyvinylidene y Fluoride (PVDF), chemical- resistant glass, high-silicon iron pipe, or lead pipe with a wall thickness of not less than one-eighth (1/8) inch; an approved type of ceramic glazed or unglazed vitrified clay; or other approved corrosion-resistant materials.

44 CH 10 Traps & Interceptors Bladders, check valves or any other Bladders, check valves or any other type of devices with moveable parts shall be prohibited to serve as a trap.

45 CH 10 Traps & Interceptors Trap Seals. Each fixture trap shall have a water liquid seal of not less than two (2) inches and not more than four (4) inches, except where a deeper seal is found necessary by the Authority Having Jurisdiction. Traps shall be set true with respect to their water liquid seals and, where necessary, they shall be protected from freezing.

46 Chapter 11 Storm Drainage

47 Chapter 11 Storm Drainage All rainwater shall drain by gravity to a place of disposal satisfactory to the Department. If the rainwater cannot be drained by gravity, discharge into a sump may be permitted. Roof drainage shall not have a direct connection to a sump having an air-tight cover.

48 Chapter 11 Storm Drainage (Cont.) The pumps shall have an audio and visual alarm, readily accessible, that signals pump failure or an overload condition. The lowest inlet shall have a minimum clearance of two (2) inches from the high-water or starting level of the sump.

49 Chapter 11 Storm Drainage Underground Building Storm Drains. Underground building storm drains shall be in accordance with the applicable standards referenced in Table 7-1 for underground drain, waste and vent pipe.

55 Chapter 12 Fuel Piping Shutoff Valve For Laboratories. Each laboratory space containing two (2) or more gas outlets installed on tables, benches, or in hoods in educational, research, commercial and industrial occupancies shall have a single shutoff valve through which such gas outlets are supplied. The shutoff valve shall be accessible and shall be located within the laboratory or located adjacent to the laboratory s egress door and shall be identified. [NFPA 54-09: ]
