1 ON COURSE Coastal Carolina Community College Issue 2 Vol. 15/16 The Early Childhood Education curriculum prepares individuals to work with children from infancy through middle childhood in diverse learning environments. Students will combine learned theories with practice in actual settings with young children under the supervision of qualified teachers. Coastal offers an Associate in Applied Science Degree, (A.A.S.) a Diploma, and four Certificates. The Early Childhood Education A.A.S. at Coastal Carolina Community College is proud to have earned Accreditation from the NAEYC Commission on Early Childhood Associate Degree Accreditation a standard of excellence for early childhood programs that prepare teachers at the associate degree level. The College serves all students regardless of race, creed, sex, national origin, age, or physical handicap. Selective placement of individual students in the different programs of study within the College is determined by the Admissions Office, within the guidelines established by the State Board of Community Colleges and the North Carolina Community College System for each program of study and course offered. Admissions Process 1. Complete an application for admission. In order to take advantage of early registration opportunities, new students should begin the admissions process as soon as possible. 2. Submit official high school transcript (or GED/Adult High School) and all transcripts from any schools attended after high school. 3. Take any required placement tests. 4. Meet with an academic counselor to plan your program of study and assist in scheduling your classes. Registration Procedures Currently enrolled students will receive early registration dates and times by mail. New students, admitted prior to July 1, will receive registration information by mail. Students registering during open registration should begin the admissions process in the Admissions Office prior to registering for classes. Cash, checks, money orders, Visa, and MasterCard are accepted for payment of tuition and fees. All students are encouraged to pay tuition and fees on the day of registration. Students must obtain a student ID card and register motor vehicles with Campus Security when registering.
