(2) Distribute the allocation fund for miniproject after getting approval from the Dean. (3) Prepare and distribute the list of students for the practical training which include the training schedule. (4) Monitor the implementation of the whole training in terms of lectures and participation from the students. (5) Attend complaints and enquiries from the students. 4 From 2001/02, the name for Practical Training was replaced to Engineering Practice Responsible for the following works in Industrial Training: (1) Assist the students to get placement in the government and private bodies (a recommendation letter is normally given to each student to be accompanied with their application) 5. Programme Chairman, Water Resources and Environmental Engineering. Responsible for the development of all the courses relating to water resources and environmental engineering. Other duties include development of laboratory facilities and research works by establishing a collaboration with the University of Newcastle upon Tyne. 6. District Manager. Responsible for the following works: (a) Managing and administrating of department's financial, property and staff. (b) Supervision of water supply project for Felda Lepang-Nenering. (c) Planning and implementing other water supply projects in the district. This includes investigation on new water source in term of quantity and quality. (d) Maintenance of water treatment plants and distribution system. (e) Other duties include a member of the District Development and Security Committee and an Ex-officio member of the Grik Local Council which carry the responsibility of advising the District Office, other departments, members of Parliament and State Assembly from the District of Hulu Perak on matters of public concern or anything which could improve the socioeconomic status of the area. In term of General Election in 1990, became a polling station officer for Selat Pagar in Lenggong. 7. Senior Engineer (Project development). Involved with the construction of water treatment plant with a capacity of 139 mld, intake works, pumping station, construction of reservoirs, quarters and pipe laying works. (b) Improvement of Taiping Water Supply (RM16 million). Involved with the construction of a dam at Air Kuning, intake works, water treatment plant and pipe laying works. (c) Trong/Matang Water Supply Scheme (RM18 million). Involved with the construction of road to the intake, water treatment works, elevated water tanks and pipe laying works. (d) Kemunting Water Supply Scheme (RM7 million). Involved withe the construction of intake works, water treatment plant, contruction of elevated water tanks and pipe laying works. (e) Improvement of Selama Water Supply (RM2 million). Involved with the feasibility studies. (f) Other duties include attending site meetings, preparation of annual allocation for water supply development projects in the State of Perak, preparation of progress reports for all the contracts involve in the above water supply schemes, processing of progress payments for contractors and consultants, commissioning of water treatment plants, final measurement of works involved in every contract, preparation of completion certificate, designing of suction tank for Police Field Force Camp at Bidor, and attending meetings at state level to represent the director of the department when necessary. 8. Trainee Engineer Trained in various fields which include tunneling for the construction of Seoul underground rail system, road construction for the 88 Olympic Expressway, installation of sand-drained at a coastal site for Kwang Yang Steel Works and construction of reservoir for public water supply. 9. Civil Engineer Responsible for the preparation of bill of quantities, specification, tender table document, designing and supervision of water supply projects. 6 (a) Planning and implementation of rural water supply schemes for the District of Kinta. Planning works involve demand forecasting with respect to population growth, network analysis of the existing and future pipelines system and identification of possible augmentation of resource for future water supply. Implementation works include carrying out surveying works, estimation and ordering of pipes, fittings and specials, supervision for pipe laying, carrying out pressure and leakage tests, final measurements and preparation of progress and final payments. (b) Planning, site investigation and implementation of Greater Ipoh Water Supply Scheme. (c) Estimation of annual allocation(fund) for water supply projects in the District of Kinta. 10. Technical Assistant. Responsible to carry out surveying works which include setting out road alignment, circular and transition curves, leveling for cut and fill, final formation and rock blasting.
