Learner will gain an understanding of climate change basics, recognise how climate change can affect us all, and know what we can all do about climate change and the actions we can all take to reduce our carbon footprint. Virtually everyone has had experiences of poor customer care, be it from unhelpful staff, undelivered promises, or something as simple as absence of an apology when experiencing a delay. Obviously there are examples of outstanding customer care, but unfortunately these can seem to be the exception rather than the rule. What frustrates customers is that many of these grievances could be easily avoided with thought, planning and training. This course is designed to show learners how they and their colleagues can make customers feel that their business is genuinely interested in them. 13 Business & Enterprise Division Business e-learning courses Display Screen Equipment and Workstation Health and Safety Fire Safety Training 15 + VAT Many millions of people now spend their working days sitting in front of display screens whilst operating computers. This lifestyle and the postures and repetitive physical activity involved can cause serious health problems. The Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and the Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations 1992 place significant responsibilities upon employers for the health and safety of their staff. This course will enable you to take positive action in respect of your own health and safety, thereby making compliance with the law easier and more effective. Fire training is no longer optional. The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 which came into force in October 2006 requires staff to receive appropriate fire training; employers are now legally required by Fire Safety Regulations to provide information, instruction and training to employees about the fire precautions in the workplace. This online fire safety training course will help employers and individuals to fulfil this requirement by offering learners an overview of the key issues relating to a safe working environment. Equal Opportunities and the Law First Aid: The Primary Survey 15 + VAT All employers have a legal responsibility to promote equal opportunity in the workplace and ensure their employment policy and employee behaviour does not contravene UK law. As a result, this e-learning course has been developed to provide learners with a heightened awareness of equal opportunities within the workplace. It provides learners with an increased understanding of the key UK opportunities and anti-discrimination laws relating to a variety of issues including race, age, gender and disability. This course is relevant to anyone who may find themselves first on the scene of an incident involving a casualty, whether in a work or personal capacity. It has been created by Virtual College in partnership with First Response Training, to give learners the basic knowledge of how to act in the event of an incident requiring first aid assistance. The learning material is underpinned by the use of video scenarios. The overall aim of this course is to provide an overview of what you need to know to act safely and effectively in the event of an incident requiring first aid assistance. Equality and Diversity in the Workplace Health and Safety in the Workplace Ask the question what is equality and diversity and you will get a variety of answers. There is much confusion; it is often obscured by myths and most people are wary of dealing with equality and diversity issues for fear that they may do or say something wrong. Most people just want to be treated fairly, with respect and dignity, and given an equal opportunity to make a success of their lives. This course is aimed at helping learners to be better placed to play their part in promoting equality and diversity. In an ideal world, a safe and healthy workplace means a working environment where everyone enjoys a sense of wellbeing, whilst being safe from accident and injury. Of course, we do not live in an ideal world but our aim should be to employ sensible precautions, which reduce risks and protect employees and visitors alike from harm. There are many good reasons to ensure workplaces are safe and healthy, high on the list being compliance with legislation and ensuring the wellbeing of employees, visitors and customers. Another compelling reason is that it makes good business sense. To purchase these courses online go to To purchase these courses online go to 16 Online Course Directory 17 Online Course Directory

It has been designed to challenge people s views, raise awareness of LGBT issues and outline how LGBT issues relate to a study and work environment. Back injury is the main reason for absence from the workplace and one third of all reported injuries that result in three days off work are caused by manual handling accidents. This course will provide a deeper understanding of Food Safety than Level 2 and will also consider some of the implications of poor food hygiene VAT The Government is committed to reducing death and ill-health caused by diet-related disease. More than ever, caterers and those preparing and serving food for others need to understand the link between diet and health. Based on the syllabus of the Level 2 Award in Healthier Food and Special Diets, this course covers the basic principles of nutrition which underpin the production of healthy food, the preparation of special diets, and the effect that nutrition has on our health, and is aimed at those who are employed in catering environments and involved in the selection of menus, recipes and ingredients. Easy to understand, clear instructions, less pressure than studying in a classroom. AG Very easy to complete and I felt confident all the way through. KF I was so happy that I could complete this course in my own time. I enjoyed learning online, and I know I will study online again. Thank you. 18 Housing e-learning courses What is the Housing e-academy? The Housing e-academy is a best practice club that was launched in The e-academy is specifically structured to enhance the learning process for individuals and organisations that work within, provide support for, or are customers of the housing sector. This means that we provide e-learning courses, accessed via the internet, to staff, board members, contractors and tenants. Overview A Beginners Guide to Leasehold and Shared Ownership Management Authored by David Higgins, this module introduces and explains the basics of leasehold and shared ownership. The course looks at what a lease is, as well as the main elements of the lease, the rights of the leaseholder, collecting service changes and how to enforce breaches of a lease. Relevant to any housing organisation looking for a high quality introductory course or a refresher course, or to any individual wanting to gain a better understanding of leasehold or shared ownership. Our mission is to support the housing sector in exceeding expectations through the provision of high quality e-learning courses and a useable platform, supported by excellent customer service, whilst ensuring value for money. Our prime focus is to make strategic use of online solutions to help enhance the traditional approach to education and training. The Aim The aim of the Housing e-academy is to improve the education and training process within the housing sector. We do this by developing training solutions in cooperation with our members which ensures that our courses exceed the required legislative standards and organisational standards, whilst meeting individual training needs. We continue to apply innovative ideas which enhance training delivery and work with our customers to ensure the successful alignment of e-learning into their training strategy.
