2 The Event The OHA Annual Meeting and Educational Summit is the premier gathering of Ohio s hospital leaders. At this event, nearly 1,000 prominent health care decision makers for hospitals, health systems and state government will participate. You are invited to contribute to this important event by submitting a proposal for an educational presentation. Presentations should be designed for about 55 minutes of presentation time. Themes Proposals can be submitted on any topic. However, several program tracks generally emerge. You may use this list merely as a guide for proposal development. Affordable Care Act-Health Care Reform Accreditation & Performance Improvement Business Development Compliance Data and Technology Finance/Billing & Managed Care Governance & Leadership HCAHPS -- Patient Experience Health & Wellness Hospital Leadership Legal Climate/Risk Management Mergers & Acquisitions Nursing Leadership Organizational Development & Productivity Public Reporting/Transparency Physician Relations & Recruitment Public Relations Quality & Patient Safety Risk Management Workforce & Labor Relations Selection Submissions will be reviewed by one or more OHA selection committees. Committees are comprised of OHA member representatives, staff and members of personal membership groups. Criteria for selection include: Relation to hospital staff, physician or trustee educational needs Currency of content Clarity of proposal Credentials of Speaker Platform Skills Demonstrated command of subject Congruence with proposal format Completeness of submission Conformance with deadlines Deadlines Submission Proposals must be received by OHA by December 15, Notification of Presenters March 6, Proposals can be mailed, ed or faxed to the OHA offices: Jeannette Noll Manager, Education Services Ohio Hospital Association 155 E. Provide at least one but not more than three objectives Note: We can acknowledge no more than 3 speakers. Please limit presentation to 3 speakers or less. 8 Session Title Sample Submission Gearing Up for the Patient Safety Standards Overview In July 2001, additional JCAHO patient safety standards went into effect for hospitals. About 50 percent of JCAHO standards directly relate to safety. Additional standards indirectly related to safety. They require coordination and integration of many existing safety processes throughout the hospital. This session outlines techniques for compliance. Objectives Describe JCAHO standards relative to the Patient Safety Standards in Leadership, Performance Improvement, Information Management, Patient Rights, Patient & Family Education and Continuum of Care. Develop strategies for compliance with the standards related to patient safety.
