2 DIAMOND CUT-OFF WHEELS Diamond cut-off wheels are excellently suitable for application of various stones and building materials. It is very important to choose the correct segmented wheel. General rule is: wet cut-off wheel must not be used dry, but dry cut-off wheels can be used wet, the water cooling will increase the lifetime significantly. 5 TOOL SHARPENING WHEELS CBN: Galvanikus A Diamond and CBN are harder than every other material of stock removing tools. Diamond is the hardest, but very brittle material. CBN is less hard, but tougher material and does not make reaction with ferro content of steel not even on higher temperature. Their application field is therefore different. Application: Diamond: Cemented carbide, Glass, ceramic, china, graphite, ferrite, for heat hardened resin, glass fibre reinforced resin, natural stones and artificial stones. CBN: High speed steels, hardened tool steels, cementation steel, ball bearing steel, chrome steel. Grain concentration: The grain amount in one unit grinding layer is called concentration. Higher concentration increases the wheel's lifetime, but using higher concentration needs higher surface pressure, so higher heat is developed. Bond types: In Electroplated bond all grains are in one layer on the various shaped carrier. Their finishing is not possible. With resin bond is possible to product tools without pores and with soft hardness. With these wheels is possible to arrange high chip removal, shorter application time and lower heat. They are suitable dry or wet. With vitrified bond is possible to product porous, various hard tools. Pores make easier the flood of coolant and the remove of chips. Their finishing is possible.
