The agency serves a diverse population with over 50 languages spoken. Common psychiatric diagnoses treated include mood, anxiety, adjustment, and substance-related disorders. Provided individual psychotherapy to adult residents of DuPage County in the office setting. Delivered psychoeducation to clients about common medical conditions. Administered psychological batteries as needed that facilitated DuPage residents acquisition of resources such as temporary housing. Alan M. Jaffe, Psy.D. and Associates Sep 2008-Sep 2009 Doctoral Assessment Practicum Externship Supervisor: Alan M. Jaffe, Psy.D. Conducted custody evaluations for parents, pre and post-decree divorce. Participated in joint observations with lead psychologist to observe parent-child interactions. Enabled the observers to gain deeper knowledge about the dynamics of the family relationships, allowing for the appropriate recommendations to be made regarding custody. Co-provided individual interviews with the children whose parents were undergoing custody evaluations. The interview allowed the child to speak candidly about the relationship with their parents and also express their desires for visitation, particularly among older children. Administered psychological evaluations to clients, referred by an attorney, claiming ill or improper treatment by place of residence, and thus resulting in emotional turmoil. AIDS Foundation of Chicago July 2007-Dec 2007 Doctoral Community Service Practicum Externship Supervisor: Rev. Doris Green Authored a faith-based training manual that faith-based organizations can utilize to address HIV/AIDS with their various ministries. Chapters included HIV 101, Combating Stigma and Homophobia, and Developing Your AIDS Ministry. Educated faith-based organizations on how to provide information about HIV/AIDS to their congregations in a non-judgmental, non-stigmatizing, and non-homophobic way, with the objective to alleviate the HIV/AIDS stigma faith-based organizations have often maintained. Provided information that would help faith-based organizations understand the importance of public policy and social advocacy. Will County Health Department - Youth Services Program Sep 2005-Aug 2006 Joliet, IL Master of Arts Therapy Practicum Externship Supervisors: Rita Gray, Psy.D. and Arieahn Bennett, Ph.D. Provided individual counseling to students at school to ensure students had access to services they may have otherwise been unable to receive outside of school.

Assisted students to process and work through issues including adjustment to high school and a new atmosphere, depressed mood, anxiety, and anger issues. Facilitated a Stress Management psychoeducational support group that taught students productive ways of coping with life s stressors. Students were taught various forms of relaxation techniques including Progressive Muscle Relaxation, meditation, and diaphragmatic breathing. Students were also given weekly exercises to enhance their relaxation practice outside the group and further promote productive coping skills. Harris Ministries Dec 2005 Aurora, IL Child Guidance and Parenting Supervisor: Eric Mansager, Ph.D. Co-facilitated with fellow student, Child Guidance and Parenting Education Seminar. Provided child guidance and parenting education to parents based on Adlerian principles including natural and logical consequences, encouragement versus praise, and issues with punishment. The parenting class provided parents with additional parenting alternatives that might not have been previously considered. Assisted lead teacher with daily classroom curriculum and activities, such as reading, math, science, and art. Facilitated with the supervision of the students in the classroom, providing support and encouragement to both the students and the lead teacher. Aided with activities that would further enrich the child s development including activities in Spanish, music, dance, and cooking.

Adler School of Professional Psychology and Cross Cultural Solutions Aug 2009 Cartago, Costa Rica International Immersion and Cross Cultural Studies Supervisor: Nataka Moore, Psy.D. Cross Cultural Solutions is a non-profit organization that has operated international volunteer programs for fifteen years. Traveled abroad for two weeks and engaged in non-clinical activities. Assisted with the daily activities in a community daycare. Responsible for the care and instruction of school-aged children. Activities such as vocabulary, art, and outdoor physical activity were part of the daily lesson plan. The immersion provoked the examination and critical thought about the impact of systemic and structural barriers on healthcare abroad.
