1 President-elect Bonnie Cassidy, MPA, RHIA, FAHIMA, FHIMSS is an experienced Director of the AHIMA Board of Directors (served ). Currently working as a Strategic Leader for the Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology (CCHIT) and is an adjunct faculty member of Macon State College. Has lived, worked and volunteered in Buffalo, NY; Cleveland, OH and Atlanta, GA as an HIM Practitioner, Director, Consultant, and Educator. Recipient of AHIMA Legacy Award, Volunteer Excellence Award and Professional Achievement Award. Bonnie is a Fellow of AHIMA (FAHIMA), experienced AHIMA Author and national convention speaker. Recipient of OHIMA Distinguished Member Award and Past- President of OHIMA. Mary Beth Haugen, MS, RHIA, is currently the president of Haugen Consulting Group which specializes in HIM consulting and the integration of EHRs. Previously, Haugen was the Director of IS and HIM at Denver Health implementing the electronic health record. Haugen is currently serving on AHIMA s Board of Directors and is currently chairing the BOD Industry Team. Haugen has served in several capacities for Colorado HIMA. She is also adjunct faculty at Regis University and the University of Cincinnati. Haugen is a nationally known speaker on topics such as the legal health record, integration of healthcare technology, e-discovery, managing electronic health records, managing IT projects and leadership. 1

2 Director Cassi Birnbaum, RHIA, CPHQ, Director of Health Information/Privacy Officer at Rady Children s Hospital San Diego, is the co-chair of the EHR Practice Council and a member of the AHIMA HIE Practice Council and Data Content Standards Work Group. Cassi is the immediate Past-President for CHIA, and has held numerous positions at the state and local level. She is the co-chair of the California Privacy and Security Board s, Privacy Committee, and the co-chair of the CCHIT Privacy and Compliance Work Group, and co-chair of the California Healthcare Association, Health Information Technology Committee. Cassi is a Mesa College HIT faculty member, an established speaker, author, and has received awards for leadership and professional achievement. Tasha Green, MS, RHIA, is a Director of Health Information Management at Howard University Hospital in Washington, DC. Green has served as Co-Chair of AHIMA s HOD Volunteer and Leadership Team, PHR Practice Council, CoP Facilitator, and is an ACE Member. She has served as President, Secretary, Director of Marketing and Annual Meeting Committee Chair for the District of Columbia HIMA. She serves on the District of Columbia Hospital Association, Information Resource and Planning Committee. Green is on the advisory board for the Health Information Technology programs at Prince George s Community College, Largo, MD and Northern Virginia Community College, Springfield, VA. She is a mentor and a speaker on diverse HIM topics. Beth Kost-Woodrow, BS, RHIA is Assistant VP and Chief Privacy Officer for WellStar Health System. She is a former Chief Operating Officer and National Practice Leader in healthcare consulting. Kost chaired the Board of the AHIMA Foundation in 2007 and has been a Director since She chaired the Finance Committee of the Foundation Board and currently the Triumph Awards Committee. Kost serves on various AHIMA committees such as the Virtual Lab, Policy and Research Institute and Foundation Fundraising Committees and the RHIA Task Force. She was privileged to serve as an adjunct faculty member for an HIM Program and is a nationally recognized speaker and author on subjects from Revenue Cycle to elevating HIM in an e-him setting. 2

3 Director Chrisann Lemery, MS, RHIA, FAHIMA is Security Officer and Assistant Privacy Officer at WEA Insurance. She has HIM experience in acute care, behavioral health, long term care, student health, and human services. She is chair of AHIMA State Advocacy Workgroup, served as the Privacy and Security Practice Council co-chair, and participates in ACE and workgroups (HIMSS/AHIMA Joint Privacy & Security in HIE, PHR, e-discovery). She served as president of Wisconsin HIMA and is a Distinguished Member recipient. Lemery led the WI HISPC grant and a member of a WI Governor s e-health Board workgroup. She is a speaker on HIE, HIPAA, and identity management. She is a co-author of AHIMA publication Medical Identity Theft: The State of the Industry. Anne Mahalik, MPA, RHIA, FAHIMA, Director, Health Informatics IL DHS. Motto: One Passion HIM, One Association AHIMA. Her passion goes beyond lecturing/practice site/mentoring. She has begun a CSA initiative she hopes will increase student enrollment, AHIMA membership/participation and infuse a healthy dose of enthusiasm in students/new professionals. State: Governor s EHR Taskforce, HIE Advisory and HISPC. Lois Yoder, RHIT, CCS, has worked in the HIM field for over 20 years. She started as a medical records technician in a long-term care facility, moving on to become a coder in an acute care hospital in Pennsylvania. She moved on to become a DRG/Utilization Review and coding manager. Her consulting career started with St. Anthony Consulting in the late 1980's, moving on the help launch Medical Learning, Inc., St. Paul, MN, and ultimately launching a new firm, The envision Group, Inc. in She is now the Vice President of Consulting for HSS, Inc. HSS acquired envision in She is a member of AHIMA, Florida HIMA, SW Florida HIMA, HFMA. 3

4 CAHIIM Associate Level Educator Bonnie Hemp, MBA, RHIA, CPHQ is Chair of the Health Information Technology Department at Owens Community College, in Toledo, Ohio. She is the recipient of the OHIMA Professional Achievement Award. She has served for the Ohio Health Information Management Association as President, Strategy Director, and Project Leader. Bonnie serves as an AHIMA Mentor for new HIT Program Directors, AHIMA Publications Review and Advisory Group and is currently a member of the AHIMA ICD-10 Academic Transition Workgroup. Bonnie has presented at the Assembly of Education (AOE) and the AHIMA Leadership Conference. Bonnie has authored courses for OHIMA s and AHIMA s RHIT Exam Review Continuing Education Courses. Rosalie Majid, RHIA is the Director of the Health Information Technology Program at Cypress College. She is active in the local, state and national HIM associations holding many leadership positions. She has served as Chair of Academics Committee; and AHIMA s COP Advisory Task Force; and Newsletter Editor for GOCHIA. She was the recipient of the 2002 CHIA Educator Award for excellence. She is actively involved in ROP/High School Medical Academy Advisory Committees to insure HIM involvement in Health Informatics Pathway implementation in California. 4

5 CAHIIM Baccalaureate Level Educator Marilyn Davidian, PhD, RHIA is the chair of Health Information Management at Loma Linda University. She has twenty-four years of experience in HIM education and she s the program director of the B.S., HIT Progression, and certificate programs in Health Information Administration. Past accomplishments include the development and management of the Master of Health Information Systems (MHIS) program. Marilyn served on the Commission on Certification for AHIMA from and chaired the Commission during She has also served on the AHIMA Education Strategy Committee and the CHIA Education Committee. Marilyn chaired the CHIA Audio-Webinar Committee during Melinda Wilkins, PhD, RHIA, serves as the Program Director and Associate Professor of the Health Information Management Program at Arkansas Tech University in Russellville, Arkansas. She is a member of AHIMA s Practice Council on Health Information Exchange as well as an ACE member. She is a past chair of AHIMA s Council on Certification and Nominating Committee. On a state level, she has served as a volunteer Central Office Coordinator for several years. She has served in a number of ArHIMA Board positions, including President, Delegate and Treasurer and has been awarded ArHIMA s Distinguished Member Award. She represents ArHIMA in the state initiative for health information exchange as well as Facilitator for the Arkansas CoP. 5

6 Commission on Certification HIT Educator Hertencia Bowe, MSA, RHIA is the Director of the Health Information Management and Coding Specialist Program for Polk Community College. She has served as the Membership Chairwoman for her regional state association. Hertencia has chaired her CSA F.I.R.E. (Find, Inspire, Recruit and Educate) Committee after serving on this committee for three years. She has served as her CSA Credentials Chairwoman as well as a member of the AHIMA RHIT Construction Committee. Hertencia has also served as an advisory member for a HIT academic program. Hertencia s health information management industry experiences include medical record coding, project management, HIM supervision, online course development, and online and face-to-face teaching. Carolyn Gaarder, MLA, RHIA is the Health Information Program Director at Minnesota State Community and Technical College, Moorhead (MN). She has worked in several HIM departments in hospitals and clinics. Gaarder is the MHIMA Region C President. She has served as chair of the RHIT Exam Construction Committee and was a member of the RHIT Job Analysis Task Force. Her recent sabbatical focused on researching the HIM educational structure and professional status in Australia, and she was a keynote speaker at the Health Information Management Association Australia Symposium in Hobart, Tasmania. Currently, Gaarder is a member of the AHIMA International Curriculum Committee. She is a contributor to CSA publications and For the Record magazine. 6

7 Commission on Certification RHIA Professional Donna Barnard, MBA, RHIA is the Director of HIM for the University of Rochester Medical Center in Rochester, NY. She is an Advisory Board member for the State University of NY, Alfred HIT program and the Monroe Community College HIT program, supporting both programs as a clinical preceptor over the past twenty years. She has served on the AHIMA HOD for two three-year terms since Donna has been a member of the PHIM Editorial Review Board since She has also supported her CSA of New York in numerous Board positions and activities. Donna is a focused HIM professional working with staff and students to assure a qualified HIM workforce, providing expert knowledge in many areas of information management and technology. Amanda King, RHIA, is the EMPI/Systems Coordinator at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, TN. King is the co-chair for the AHIMA Professional Development and Recognition House of Delegate Team. She is also a member of AHIMA s CSA Advisory Task Force and the RHIA Task Force. King served on AHIMA s Young Leaders Task Force in She was the recipient of the AHIMA Rising Star Triumph Award in King currently serves as president for the Tennessee HIMA. She was the recipient of the Tennessee HIMA Champion Award in
