3 Dear Friends, It is my honour and privilege to invite you to participate in the events organized by our Embassy in cooperation with several local partners to th commemorate the 60 Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Hungary. This brochure was specifically designed for the opening press conference in January and contains only the main events under preparation in Vietnam. Needless to say therefore that the content is tentative and will be continuously up-dated as we move deeper into the year of We hope you will be interested in new activities as well. In this case we recommend you to visit the website of the Hungarian Embassy in Hanoi rd On February 3 this year we mark six decades of our relationship. It is quite a long time and many of your citizens would remember that we were here in difficult times to help. Currently a new Hungary is present to witness the spectacular development of a new Vietnam with dynamic economic growth, remarkable social progress, diversified foreign relations, and an increasing international role. The planning for the celebration started earlier and as several events will be held both in Hungary and Vietnam our Embassy is working closely with the Vietnamese Embassy in Budapest. Among the planned events are a photo exhibition, the publishing of a book both in Hungarian and Vietnamese on the relations spanning these six decades, a literature fest of Hungarian books translated into Vietnamese, painting and small sculpture exhibitions, Hungarian music performances in the Hanoi Opera and the reconstruction and inauguration of a stupa devoted to the memory of a famous Hungarian orientalist scholar Alexander Csoma De Koros. Several other programs like scientific workshops may further enrich the celebration, which will certainly not be a one-off event but is expected to last twelve months. Currently we are living in a period of new dynamism in the Hungarian - Vietnamese relationship whatever field we are looking at: high-level political exchanges, economic, scientific, ODA cooperation. The events mentioned above are mostly related to a specific field cherished by all of us - culture. We are hopeful you can find several points of interest in the program and we can together make 2010 a remarkable year of friendship between our peoples.
