Social Welfare Policy Analysis SW 720 (fall 2011): This class builds social work practice skills in policy research, policy analysis, and policy practice. Social welfare policy and program analysis skills are central in our work to value diversity, advocate for populations at risk, end oppression and discrimination, and promote social and economic justice.

2 Research Seminar: SW 541 (spring 2011): This is the second in a sequence of two courses that present the basic concepts of the social work research process as well as the methods that are employed. This course builds on the foundation developed in the first course related to systematic methods of assessment and evaluation which are key to a generalist practice. Fundamentals of Social Work Research: SW 540 (fall 2010): This is the first in a sequence of two courses that present the basic concepts of the social work research process as well as the methods that are employed. This course provides a foundation for systematic methods of assessment and evaluation which are key to a generalist practice. Social Work Practice with Women; SW 874 (summer 2010, summer 2011): This course promotes an approach to social work practice that challenges dominant norms and worldviews that work to marginalize persons who present with these diverse attributes. This course is organized around understanding diversity and the application of that understanding to women as a specific population of people who have been marginalized and oppressed. Human Behavior and Dynamics of Community and Organizations; SW 532(spring 2010, spring 2012): This course is essentially a study of human ecology through larger social systems such as communities, organizations, and groups. This course also links horizontally with research, policy, diversity, and practice courses, as elements from these courses are incorporated into the content of SW 532. Human Sexuality in Everyday Life; SW 303 (fall 2009, fall 2010 TA Professor Margaret Severson): An introductory course which focuses on assisting students to understand their own and others sexual development and expression, as found in attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors. Physiological, psychological, and social/cultural aspects of human sexuality are covered. Community and Organizational Practice; SW 713 (fall 2009):This course is one of three foundation level masters practice courses that prepare students to apply a generalist perspective to social work practice with systems of all size. This course focuses on communities and organizations as targets of intervention that improve the well-being of individuals and families, positively impact the availability and effectiveness of services and seek to achieve social and economic justice. Research and Employment Experience Bachelor of Social Work Program Undergraduate Student Adviser August 2010 to July 2011 As an undergraduate adviser I work with 17 + students on a regular basis via , phone and face to face meetings. I have assisted them with academic and personal issues, enrollment, specific course issues as well as instructor problems, classroom behavior and classroom performance. My appointment as an undergraduate advisor requires that I maintain concise records on all students and stay in constant contact. Parent Support Specialist Research Project Graduate Research Assistance -August 2008 to August 2009

Healthy Start Military Family Cluster (HSMFC) Program Coordinator; September 2006 to July 2007: San Diego, CA Maintained and monitored grants for continued funding of non-profit agency; maintained office budget in accordance with grant funding; Completed and submitted quarterly reports on 4 separate funding sources; Maintained collaborative groups which included agencies responsible for assisting in the services available to military families in San Diego area; Organized and facilitated numerous meetings, group meetings and outreach efforts to benefit the clients that were served by HSMFC; Responsible for hiring, and retaining staff working at agency; completed evaluations for employees.
