Dryvit Systems, Inc. SECTION 1 WARRANTY TERMS

Term of Warranty Thirty () years, pro-rata over the final 20 years, effective from the date of substantial completion of the installation of the Dryvit Residential MD System or Sprint MD System components, referred to in the rest of this warranty as the System. The effective date and expiration date for your warranty are: Effective Date: Expiration Date: Components Covered The components that make up the System and that are covered under this warranty include the Dryvit textured acrylic finish, the base coat material beneath the finish, the fiberglass reinforcing mesh embedded in the base coat, the insulation board, the Dryvit MD spacer or drainage mat, the Dryvit approved mechanical fasteners used to attach the insulation board to the substrate, Dryvit approved vinyl starter tracks, Dryvit supplied flashing tape and Dryvit weather barrier (if used). These individual items are referred to in the rest of this warranty as the Components. Materials Not Covered Any other component products used in the construction of the house, including but not limited to, any roofing materials, building paper or building wrap, sealants, or other waterproofing material, caulking, windows, doors, vents, flashing material, chimney caps or vents, other siding material, the substrate and framing material, such as the plywood or oriented strand board, and studs to which the System is attached, except otherwise described below. Warranty Dryvit warrants during the term or the warranty that the System and the Components will: Be free from manufacturing defects; and That when the System and Components are installed in accordance with our published application instructions, typical details and specification that the System (i) will not peel, flake, blister or delaminate as a result of any manufacturing defect or failure of the Components, and (ii) that the System will effectively drain any moisture that should enter the cavity between the insulation board and the secondary weather barrier (the building paper or building wrap), provided the secondary weather barrier remains intact and undamaged. Remedies Under The Warranty If the System or Components fail to perform as described, Dryvit will do the following: Arrange for an authorized representative to visit your home and determine the cause of the problem and the Components needing to be repaired or replaced; Provide the name of a contractor in your area qualified to perform the repairs and who can provide an estimate for the repairs; Pay for a percentage of the actual repair or replacement costs, including associated labor costs, charged by that contractor to undertake the repairs

Dryvit determined were needed. The percentage paid by Dryvit will equal 100% during the first ten (10) years of the warranty, and beginning at the start of year eleven (11) will be reduced by 5% each year thereafter, with the reduced percentage each year going into effect on the day after the anniversary date of the effective date of the warranty. For example, up to the tenth anniversary date of your warranty, Dryvit would pay 100% of the covered cost, but beginning the day after the tenth anniversary and up to the date of the eleventh anniversary, Dryvit would pay 95% of covered cost, and then beginning on the day after the eleventh anniversary and up to the date of the twelfth anniversary Dryvit would pay 90% of the covered cost and so on. You shall be liable for the balance of the cost. Incidental Or Consequential Damages Except for certain damages to exterior studs or exterior sheathing as specifically provided for below, DRYVIT SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES OF ANY KIND, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO DAMAGE TO ANY NON-COVERED BUILDING COMPONENTS OR MATERIALS USED IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE HOUSE, PERSONAL PROPERTY, CONTENTS, FURNISHINGS, LANDSCAPING, DIMUNITION IN VALUE, STIGMA, PERSONAL INJURY, EMOTIONAL DISTRESS OR LOSS OF USE. Exterior Sheathing And Studs If the System fails to effectively drain moisture that enters the cavity between the insulation board and the secondary weather barrier, as warranted above, then the cost to repair the damaged studs or area of damaged sheathing shall be covered as part of the repairs paid for by Dryvit. The percentage of the cost of the stud and sheathing damage repair or replacement that Dryvit will pay for, shall be calculated in the same manner as any other covered repairs. Damaged studs or sheathing shall be defined to mean studs or sheathings that are structurally compromised as a result of rot caused by the System s failure to drain moisture as warranted. Studs and sheathing that merely show signs of water staining or wetness, or that are not otherwise structurally compromised are not considered damaged. Only the external sheathing to which the System is attached and the studs to which that exterior sheathing is attached are covered. Studs and sheathing do not include roof sheathing, roof rafters, trusses, rim joists, floor joists, frieze boards, soffits, wood trim, moldings, decks, etc., or portions that have a different siding material. Design And Workmanship Dryvit s warranty does not cover defects in your home due to improper design, architecture, engineering or detailing of your home and its construction. Dryvit s warranty does not cover any defects or damages caused by a failure of the installer of the System to install it in accordance with Dryvit s published application instructions, and specifications and consistent with our published typical details. Dryvit s warranty does not cover any defects or damage caused by a failure of the builder or any of the other subcontractors to construct the home properly, and in accordance with the applicable building code and good construction practices.

ACTS OF GOD/DAMAGE/FORCE MAJUERE Understandably, because they are out of our control, Dryvit cannot warrant for any damage, problems or System failures caused by these things: Acts of God/Mother nature, such as severe windstorms, tornadoes, earthquakes, hail, floods, volcanoes, meteorites, etc.; Contamination by pollutants in the environment or the air such as chemicals; Physical damage caused by vandalism or impact from foreign objects; Lack of routine maintenance or improper repairs or modifications by unqualified contractors; Failure of roofs, windows, doors, sealants, flashing material or other building components; Structural movement or settling; Project conditions, such as reflective glass or mirrors that can cause excessive wall surface temperatures. The following statement is required by law to be conspicuous: DRYVIT MAKES NO OTHER WARRANTIES EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED BY OPERATION OF LAW OR OTHERWISE AND DRYVIT EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. THE REMEDIES PROVIDED HEREIN ARE THE SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE REMEDIES FOR ANY BREACH OF THE EXPRESSED WARRANTIES PROVIDED. 7 SECTION 2 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS The following questions and answers are intended as a guide only in understanding your warranty coverage. They are not part of the warranty nor do they modify its terms. They are not intended as additional warranties. The sole warranties made by Dryvit are those contained in Section 1. Q. Does the warranty cover errors or mistakes by the installation contractor in installing the Dryvit system or by the builder or other sub-contractors in constructing your house? A. No. Dryvit is a remote material supplier. While we offer instructional material to builders and sub-contractors on how to install our products, and in fact offer free product training seminars, the responsibility for proper design, installation and construction of the house rest with the architect and contractors. Dryvit does not guarantee their work or cover damage caused by errors or deficiencies in their work. Q. Does Dryvit s warranty cover cracking? A. No. Dryvit s products are manufactured and designed to resist cracking. However, if cracks do occur it is the result of structural movement in the house that is beyond our control. If cracks develop, they can be easily repaired and patching material is available from the local Dryvit distributor. Q. Does the Dryvit warranty cover fading? A. Dryvit s finish coat has integral color, meaning the color is mixed into the finish. We use only top quality pigments to insure maximum durability and fade resistance. However, given the variety of climate conditions in which our products are used, and the length of this warranty, some weathering or fading of the finish is likely. That does not affect the performance of your System as warranted. You can easily revitalize your finish color by painting using one of Dryvit s roller applied coatings such as Demandit or Weatherlastic. Refer to Section 4. Q. What is a manufacturing defect? A. Dryvit s warranty covers manufacturing defects. A manufacturing defect means something went wrong in making the product, such as ingredients were left out or were not mixed properly. It may also mean that a foreign substance was introduced into the mix. The end result is that the Component did not function properly. All of Dryvit s manufacturing facilities are ISO 9001:2000 certified, meaning we adhere to strict quality control procedures. Our goal is zero defects. If there is a manufacturing defect that causes the System or any Component to not perform as warranted, it is covered under the warranty.

Q. How do I make a claim under my warranty? A. You can either send a letter to Dryvit s Warranty Service Department or call , as explained in the warranty. Please include your name, the property address and warranty control number in any correspondence and have the warranty control number available if you should call. Also, provide us with as much additional information including third-party reports, photographs and descriptions of the problems, as possible. Q. How long will it take to get a response on my claim? A. We will attempt to get back to you by the end of the next business day after we received the letter or the call to acknowledge that we received the claim. Depending on the nature of your claim, it may be necessary to have a Dryvit Field Service Representative schedule a visit to your home, look at the problem and develop a written report. It is our goal to evaluate and resolve claims within thirty () days or less, if possible. If repairs are needed and covered by the warranty, it may take longer to obtain bids from contractors qualified to do the repairs and schedule the work. Q. Does that mean Dryvit does not do warranty repairs itself? A. That s correct. Dryvit is a product manufacturer and while we have technical and field service support, we are not in the contracting business. If there are covered repairs we will identify independent contractors that will bid to do the work and pay our pro-rata share of the repair cost. You will be responsible for paying the balance direct to the contractor. Q. Can I choose my own contractor to do the repairs? A. Yes, if they are qualified and acceptable to Dryvit. However, if their repair bid is higher than the lowest acceptable bidder to Dryvit, we will only pay an amount equal to our pro-rata share of the lowest bid.

SECTION 3 MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING In this section, we have provided you with basic maintenance requirements for the Residential MD and Sprint MD Systems. These Systems are designed to require very little maintenance, but nonetheless regular maintenance is important to the long-term enjoyment and performance of your cladding. We also list some general maintenance requirements for other parts of a typical residential exterior as an aide; but please understand that we are not and cannot accept responsibility for their performance. At the end of this section is a checklist you can use periodically to inspect your home s exterior. We suggest you make a copy and keep a record of all inspections and maintenance done on your house to support any warranty claim. System Basic Inspection When you first move into your house, and at least once a year thereafter, you should make a fairly thorough visible inspection of your home s exterior. You should look for the following conditions: Areas of damage, such as impact damage, holes or cracks in the exterior surface. Areas where the finish coat appears to be peeling, flaking or blistering or areas of exposed base coat or mesh. Any small cracking in the finish. Areas that appear to be bulging. If you see an area that has a bulge, press on it to see if it compresses. If an area compresses easily, the lamina (which means the reinforced base coat and finish) may have pulled away from the insulation board. If the area requires more force but still compresses, the lamina may be in tact but the insulation board may have come loose from the sheathing. If the area does not compress, most likely the house has settled and not enough gapping was left between sheathing panels; and the sheathing is buckling with the system in tact. Settling can also cause the insulation board to separate from the sheathing. Areas of algae or mildew growth or areas that are stained or dirty. Areas discolored by paints, hard water or chemicals. EIF System Maintenance Requirements As stated above, your EIF System has few maintenance requirements. They are: Any areas of damage, such as holes, impact damage, cracks or areas of exposed base coat or mesh should be patched. Patching of damaged areas is not complicated, but in order to be aesthetically pleasing, we recommend you have it done by an experienced contractor. Temporary repairs can be made using an exterior acrylic latex caulk if the area is small enough or if it is a minor crack. Larger areas can be protected by using a piece of clear plastic and some weather-resistant tape. The key is

to keep water out until permanent repairs can be made. You can visit our website or contact warranty services for a distributor in your area that can put you in touch with contractors that can do the repairs. Testing has verified that Dryvit finishes can be adequately cleaned with the use of general cleaning compounds, followed by a mild pressurized water clean and rinse. This can usually be accomplished with a garden hose and an ordinary nozzle. No acidic cleaners are recommended. Enviro Klean EIFS Clean N Prep, manufactured by Prosoco, Lawrenceville, KS, , is a general purpose cleaner that the manufacturer indicates is suitable for cleaning DRYVIT SYSTEMS. This cleaner should be considered a starting point in the selection of the appropriate cleaning compound. Every home will have different requirements. General-purpose cleaners are suitable for many homes. Working with the manufacturer of the cleaning compound is essential to achieve the most effective cleaning tailored to the requirements of each individual home. A test should always be performed on a small, inconspicuous area before proceeding to general cleaning on a larger scale. Removing Paint. Depending on the type of paint used, it may or may not be possible to remove. Try cleaning as described above. Do not use solvents or solvent-based cleaners such as paint thinner or mineral spirits, since this can damage the Dryvit Components. If the paint cannot be removed with proper cleaning techniques, it will be necessary to refinish or paint over it. See our discussion on coating and finish options in Section 4. Asphalt or Tar Stains. We know of no cleaning solution that will remove these types of stains without adversely affecting the System. These stains must be chipped off and the affected area must be refinished. We recommend using a Dryvit-listed contractor for this type of repair. The local Dryvit distributor can give you the name of contractors. Areas where the finish coat appears to be peeling, flaking, blistering, checking or has surface cracking. A number of different conditions can cause problems with the finish. If you have any of theses conditions, contact Dryvit s Warranty Service Department, and we will help evaluate the problem and determine an effective solution. Areas of bulging. If on inspection you think the bulging is caused by a delamination of the lamina from the insulation board, or if the insulation board feels like it separated from the sheathing, contact Dryvit s Warranty Service Department for help in evaluating the problem. There is not a lot involved in visually inspecting and maintaining your Dryvit System. However, good home maintenance also requires inspection of other building components including other building envelope elements. You should also visually inspect:

Your roof, noting any irregularities, damage, wear or other improper conditions of your roofing material. Flashing materials. Flashing is usually installed at transitions from one material to another, such as a roof to a dormer, a roof to a wall, a roof to a chimney, a wall to a window or door, a wall to a deck or balcony, etc. Flashing material can be made from galvanized steel, copper, aluminum, plastic or other synthetic materials. The important thing is to determine that flashing is present and that it is in tact and in good condition. Drip edges and gutters. Make sure drip edges at the ends of the roof are in tact and in good shape. Make sure your gutters, and downspouts, are cleaned, properly attached and properly sloped for drainage. Downspout terminations should direct water far enough away from your home to prevent problems. Sealants/Caulking. Check for the conditions of sealants around penetration points in your home such as the perimeter of doors and windows, vents, utility attachments, decks, balconies, patios, expansion joints in the System, etc. Any damaged, cracked or missing sealants should be replaced. Window and door unit glazing and caulking should also be inspected and replaced as needed. Painted surfaces. Check all painted surfaces for peeling, cracking, chalking or other damage. Any problem areas should be prepared and repainted according to the paint manufacturer s instructions. Landscaping. Landscaping can cause problems for your home. Shrubs, trees, bushes and other plants should be pruned so that they are not in contact with your home and in addition mulch, soil, and other bedding material should not be placed so high as to place your siding, framing or sheathing at or below grade level. We recommend a minimum eight inches (8 0), but local building codes may require more. Ground that is in contact with your home should always be sloped away from the foundation wall. Other cladding materials should be inspected for damage and problems. Decks, balconies and patio material should be checked for wear and safety.

SUGGESTED HOME INSPECTION CHECKLIST* Date Completed Dryvit SYSTEM Sealants Gutters, drip edges, downspouts Windows and Doors Frequency Every 6-12 months Every 6-12 months Every 6-12 months Every 6-12 months What To Look For Damage such as holes, cracks, punctures, tears. Check all sealants around doors, windows, and other penetrations, looking for sealant that is missing, cracked, separated or dried out. Check to make sure gutters and downspouts are clean, attachments are secure, and that downspouts direct water away from house. Mulch or other landscaping should not interfere with drainage. Make sure window and door glazing is intact, not cracked or separated. Look for gaps at metered joints, look for broken glass; make sure sill and thresholds are not damaged. Look for internal condensation or fogging of glass. Check weather stripping and all hardware. Roof Flashing Every 12 months Visual inspection from ground to identify loose, missing, damaged or raised shingles. Also check ceilings inside house and attic for evidence of water staining that might indicate a roof leak. Check soffits and fascia for damage. Every 12 months Visually inspect flashing at roof termination, decks, windows, doors, etc., make sure there is no damage or gaps, that it is properly sealed and in place.

Paint Every 6-12 months Visually inspect all exterior painted surfaces for peeling, blistering, cracking, or chalking. Also check the condition of the wood beneath the paint. Chimney Caps Landscaping Decks, porches, balconies Every 12 months If possible and if it can be done safely, make sure chimney caps are in place, secure and not leaking. Check for interior stains around chimney and fireplace. For masonry, check mortar joints for deterioration and check for bulging or sagging. Every 12 months Make sure trees, shrubs, bushes, etc., are trimmed back and not in contact with roof, gutters, walls, windows, or any other part of the house. WATCH OUT FOR ELECTRICAL LINES. Check flowerbeds and grading around house to make sure it is not in contact with siding or wood surfaces and that soil or mulch is sloped away from the foundation. Every 12 months Check for wood deterioration and check all handrails for loose members or deterioration. Other exterior cladding Every 6-12 months If your home has a portion clad with something other than a Dryvit System, check it for damage and general conditions. For example, with brick, check mortar joints to look for deterioration or cracking. Wood sidings should be checked for deterioration of the wood or the coating or paint on it. Contact your builder for more information.

Foundation Every 12 months Check foundation for cracks. Also look for telltale signs of termite or carpenter ants infestation such as dirt lines or tubes running up the foundation. Check basement or crawl space for moisture leakage after bad weather. Contact your builder if such condition occurs. *This checklist is provided in good faith but Dryvit makes not guarantees and warranties about any of the items listed above and shall not be liable for any errors or omissions in this list. Additional information may be available from your builder, local library or bookstore.

SECTION FOUR - RECOATING AND DESIGN CHANGE One of the many wonderful benefits of the Residential MD and Sprint MD system is the relative ease with which the color, texture, or appearance of the exterior can be changed to suit the Owner s taste. Changing Color: Dryvit manufactures a full line of acrylic and elastomeric coatings for use specifically in changing the color of the exterior of your Dryvit-clad home. These are extremely high quality coatings, and are available in nearly any color. Dryvit coatings can be matched to almost any paint color. NEVER, under any circumstances, allow oil based or solvent based paint to be used on your Dryvit exterior! Changing Finish Type: It is also possible to change the textured pattern or finish type used on your home s exterior. Dryvit finishes can beautifully and authentically replicate concrete, stucco, granite, and brick. Information about this wide array of finishes can be seen on Dryvit s website or obtained from the local Dryvit distributor. Changing Exterior Design: Adding to or altering the design of your home s exterior can be accomplished using approved Expanded Polystyrene foam shapes such as quoins, window trim, dentil mouldings, medallions, wainscots, or other architectural details. For this option, you will need to retain a design professional who is familiar with this process and will ensure it does not adversely affect the performance of your Dryvit System. General: If you desire to change the exterior of your Dryvit Residential MD or Sprint MD system in any way, it is highly recommended that you retain the services of a professional contractor who is experienced in the proper use of Dryvit materials. These materials can only be obtained from an authorized Dryvit distributor who can also provide references to contractors in your area. Use of genuine Dryvit coatings and finishes will not adversely affect your -year warranty. Dryvit will not be responsible for any problems caused by use of non-dryvit or other incompatible products. Please visit the residential section on Dryvit s website: There you will see many examples of the use of various Dryvit products on homes across North America.
