4 Getting Started Orientation Students should go to the Psychology office (SN 2065) and introduce themselves to Brenda Crewe, and the Psychology clinic at 75 Tiffany Lane, to introduce themselves to Christa Anderson. The Graduate Student Union also holds an Orientation for new graduate students to get acquainted with Memorial. Please contact your Graduate Student Union for more information on when this will take place. The Graduate Student Union is located in the Field Hall (GH 2007) and can be reached at or Their website is MUN Account To register for your MUN account, go to and click on Set up your Account. If you do not yet have a Self-Service Pin, you will need to go to Memorial Self-Service ( to get your pin. University Card/ Student ID Students can request a card online or directly at the Answers office in UC If you request a card online, you can pick it up at the Answers office once your request has been processed. Please ensure you have a piece of government issued photo ID with you when you pick up your card. To request your card online, log into your my.mun.ca account and click on the Student tab. Under Student Services, select Request a Card and fill out of the appropriate information. For pick-up, or to request your card in-person, please visit Answers in UC 3005, Monday- Friday from 8:30-4:45 (4:15 in summer). Any trouble requesting your card online, please campuscard@mun.ca 4

5 Student Services Centre for Career Development (CDEL) The Centre for Career Development and Experiential Learning provides help with career-related skills and information such as interview preparation, writing your curriculum vitae, and finding on-campus jobs. Counselling Centre The Counselling Centre offers personal and group counselling and academic support programs. The Counselling Centre is open Monday-Friday, 9AM to 12:40PM and 2PM to 5PM. With the exception of special tests, admission testing, and UCC 2020, all services are free to registered students. Appointments can be made in person or by telephone, A crisis counsellor is available for students who feel they need to be seen immediately Monday-Friday from 9AM to 12:30PM and 2PM to 5PM. Housing Services On-campus apartment housing is available in the Burton s Pond apartments. The Off-Campus Housing Office maintains a directory of rental properties and assists students in finding off-campus housing in and around the St. John s area. Student Health The Student Health Service provides primary health care to the students of Memorial University. At EVERY appointment you MUST present your provincial health care. Otherwise, you will be required to pay the fee for your examination and/or treatment. Office hours are Monday-Friday 8:30am to 4:00pm. University Bookstore The University Bookstore is located on the second floor of the University Centre, Room UC Store hours are 8:30-4:45 (4:15 for June-August). The Bookstore is closed on Saturday, Sunday, and on all University holidays. Sells textbooks, school supplies including backpacks, and Graduation/Alumni merchandise. Also sells faculty jackets. The Works Included as part of tuition for Memorial University students is access to the Works gym and recreation facilities, including pools. Bring your Student ID to gain access. The Attic Copy and Convenience The Attic is located directly across the hall from Answers on the third floor of the University Centre. Here students can purchase a Metrobus Ride card (bus pass), reload a Metrobus Ride card, purchase snacks and stationary, access a CanadaPost outlet, purchase phone cards, and copy and print documents. The Writing Centre The Writing Centre offers a free service to help students with their writing. Appointments are made well in advance and Graduate students can make one by ing ennisd@mun.ca, or by calling , or visiting SN It is necessary to identify yourself as a Graduate student when making appointments. 5
