To run the PSpice program, click on Start > All Programs > Orcad 16.0 > Orcad Capture CIS. 2. The cadence Product Choices dialog is invoked as shown in Fig. 1. 2 4. The New Project dialog is invoked. In the name field, enter your desired project name. You can also browse into the directory that you will like to save your project or you can simply type your path. You can also create a directory to save your project. Select Analog or Mixed A/D in the Create a New Project Using options. Click Ok. Figure 3 New Project Dialog 5. Select Create a Blank Project as shown in fig. 4 and click OK. You also have the option of creating your project based on existing project files. Figure 4 Create PSpice Project

3 6. The circuit layout grid and Capture toolbar is invoked as shown fig. 5. Figure 6 Capture toolbar and layout grid 7. Click Place > Part on the menu bar at the top or on the vertical the toolbar option at the right side of the screen as shown in figure 6. This invokes the Place Part dialog box as shown in figure If it is your first time of running the Orcad capture CIS, Click Add Library tab to add your desired library. In our case add the analog library. The dialog in Figure 7 is invoked.

5 10. Select Resistor R in the Parts List field as shown in figure 10 and click OK to place the part on the layout grid as shown in figure 11 below. Figure 10 Place Part Dialog 11. The part selected is placed on the layout grid of the Orcad Capture window as shown in figure 11. If you are done with placing part you can right click on the part and Click on End Mode as shown in figure 11. You can rotate the component to the best orientation for wiring by pressing Control R or by right clicking on the part and selecting rotate.

Repeat step 9 through step 11, but instead of selecting analog in the library directory (step 9), select SOURCE from the PSpice library directory to add library SOURCE to your libraries field. Place VDC in the layout grid instead of placing resistor R to the layout grid. Also place one more resistor on the layout grid. 13. Change the value of the part by double clicking on the part s value and the dialog in figure 12 appears.

7 Figure 12 Part s Value 14. Change the value of R1 and R2 to 5kΩ and 10kΩ respectively and the value of V1 to 30V as shown in figure 13. Figure 13 Changing Parts Value

8 15. Wire the component together by clicking Place > Wire from the menu bar at the top or by clicking on the third option on the vertical toolbar at the right side of the screen. Wire the circuit by clicking the mouse at the starting node and the ending node as shown in figure 14. Figure 14 Components Wired together 16. Add ground to your circuit by clicking Place Ground on the menu bar. The dialog box in figure 15 is invoked. If you don t have the part named 0, you will need to add it to your library. Click on Add Library, in the PSpice directory, select Source and click open.

9 Figure 15 Place Ground dialog 17. Select 0 in the Libraries field and Click OK as shown in figure 16. The ground will be placed on the grid. Connect it to your already wired circuit as shown in figure 17. Figure 16 Place Ground dialog showing 0 selected

10 Figure 17 Complete circuit Simulating Your Circuit 1. Select a name for your simulation by Clicking Pspice > New Simulation Profile as shown in figure 18. The dialog in figure 19 is invoked. Enter your desired profile name and click Create button.

11 Figure 18 Creating a New Simulation profile Figure 19 New Simulation dialog 2. Click the Analysis tab and select bias point as the analysis type as shown in figure 20. This determines all the node voltage values (biasing). Click OK and this returns you to the schematic.

14 6. Examine the output from the bias analysis by clicking the third button on the vertical toolbar as shown in figure 24. Figure 24 Output file Analyze the output file and make sense out of it.
