The purpose of this document is to outline the EasyBook 2000 bookmaking application, along with related software and hardware considered important in operating a successful computerised bookmaking service. 4 2. Software Easy Book What is EasyBook EasyBook 2000 is a Windows? based bookmaking application currently used by over 100 bookmakers Australia wide. The main objective of the application is to provide a stable operating environment which requires minimal support, while allowing the bookmaker to easily manage not only the on-course tasks of being a bookmaker, but also the off-course tasks of performance analysis and client management. The early version of the software was released in 1999 with continual enhancements being added based on either user recommendations or changes in the bookmaking environment to be the leading bookmaking application in Australia today Key Features. 5 Betting Types. The software provides the following bet types:? Win.? Each Way.? Place.? Concession.? Top Fluctuation betting.? Starting Price bets.? Bets with Starting Price Guarantee.? 6 Screen Layouts The software utilises two separate screen layouts. The use of each layout is dependant on the individual requirements of the bookmaker. 1. Version 4 Layout Application Reports. Numerous report options are available to users. These reports have been developed based on user and administrative requirements over the past 4 years and should prove more than adequate for most bookmaking operations. The application has the option to be used on multiple computers linked to a single server therefore allowing streamlined control of true race liabilities. By doing this, bets placed on any of the computers are relayed back to a control point, so the actual liability on each runner is known immediately. An example of such a setup is that used by COXBET in Victoria, where up to eight computers are linked during a meeting to allow the bookmaker to make informed decisions based on actual current information. Setting up the Multi-User version is rather simple once the networking is in place Electronic Display Boards. 8 2.2. Easy Book Printing Software. The Easy Book Printing Software allows users to print field sheets for betting boards using a comprehensive list of design formats. This software is extremely handy for users who are spending too much time hand writing the sheets for boards, or those users currently paying too much for printed sheets from their existing suppliers. The software is extremely easy to use, and reports can be designed for most board types. 8.

9 2.3. Easy Book Client Management Software. The Easy Book Client Manager is a comprehensive application to analysis the performance of your client accounts. The software provides a seamless link with the Easy Book 2000 application. Some of the key features of the software are the ability to filter client transactions and chart performance over time. 9.

10 2.4. Bookmakers Online Service. The Bookmakers Online Software allows access, where approved, to the Raceday pricing service (formally known as the Australian Pricing Network APN). This provides the user of EasyBook 2000 to a feed of pricing and other information directly into the bookmaking application, thus reducing the requirement to input odds for each runner. This service provides the following features:? Access to Fluctuation changes before they appear on the On-Course Monitors. Usually around 2 seconds before to the Televisions.? Ability to flag runners to keep under the odds, thus automatically adjusting price movements based on a predetermined flag.? Access to Information such as deductions, racing notification, past the post, protest details, jockey changes and correct weight. 10.

11 3 Hardware. 3.1 Computer Specifications. The following are the recommended minimum system requirements to effectively run EasyBook 2000.? Computer with a Pentium 400mhz processor or higher.? Windows 95, 98, Me, NT, Xp or Windows 2000.? 64mb of Random Access Memory (RAM).? 25mb of free hard disk space.? 800 by 600 Display Screen.? Receipt Printer (Preferably Epson TM-T88II)? Standard Keyboard or POS keyboard. The minimum specification is generally relative to a computer aged up to 4 years old. As indicated in the attached price list, used laptops are available at very competitive prices. These laptops have been purchased specifically with Easybook 2000 in mind. 3.2 Ticket Printer. The recommended ticket printer for EasyBook 2000 is the Epson TM-T88iii Receipt Printer. This printer is the quickest receipt printer presently available for the bookmaking software 11.

12 3.3 Keyboards. EasyBook 2000 allows users to use two types of keyboards. 1. Standard Keyboard. An everyday computer keyboard, which used stick on labels, can be used for the EasyBook software. These keyboards are very cheap and available at any computer store. 2. Pre-Configured Programmable Keyboard. A Point of Sale keyboard that is designed specifically for EasyBook 2000 is available. The keyboard is setup to allow most transactions to be completed with minimal keystrokes; this results in fewer errors and faster processing. The majority of users use these keyboards as they simplify the transaction process and assist the bookmaking operation run smoother. 12.

13 3.4 Scanners. To simplify the payment of ticket, EasyBook 2000 allows users the option of using a barcode scanner. The scanner reads a barcode located on the betting ticket when presented for collection, EasyBook 2000 then tells user how much is to be paid to the punter. Appropriate adjustments are then made to the bag cash totals to ensure the balances are correct. The use of barcode scanners also assists with common tasks such as end of day processing, cancelling tickets and the handling of the unpaid ticket register. 13.
