7 Class Registration Classes are filled on a first-come, first served basis. For information or to register call the number listed next to the class location of your choice. Fees and Refund Policy We offer a variety of classes and programs at no cost or at a low cost to Kaiser Permanente members and the community. Class fees vary depending on the class and your health plan coverage.* The fee refund policy may vary depending on the class and sponsoring department. Call the phone number listed for the specific class for more information. Generally, our refund policies are as follows: Most class fees are nonrefundable. On the rare occasions that we must cancel or reschedule a class, we will gladly refund your fees or transfer you to another class. If you cannot attend a class, we ask that you call at least two business days before the first class to transfer to another date or class. Fees can only be transferred within six months of the originally scheduled class. No refunds are given after the second session of a multiple-session class. *Program fees listed are subject to change and may depend on your health plan coverage. 10 Diabetes: Taking Care of Yourself January - December 2015 Kaiser Permanente East Bay Diabetes Learn how to prevent diabetes or how to effectively manage your diabetes with our classes that are designed to help members in all stages of diabetes management or prevention. Our group classes cover nutrition, lifestyle modification techniques and blood sugar monitoring that will help you manage your diabetes. If diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, members are suggested to complete all three type 2 diabetes classes in sequential order: Diabetes Basics, Living Well with Diabetes and Diabetes Nutrition. Prediabetes Prediabetes Learn how to prevent or delay the onset of diabetes by eating well and exercising. Explore the five key areas of type 2 diabetes management: healthy eating, exercise, monitoring your blood sugar levels, proper use of medication, and managing stress. This class schedule will help you select classes that support you and your baby. Unless otherwise stated classes are open to members only. Dates and times can be subject to change. Prenatal programs online Can t attend a prenatal class or want to review what you learned in class? Log on to kp.org/mydoctor to find over 70 prenatal-related articles and interactive programs in English and Spanish. Video topics (called Emmi programs) include: Childbirth, Managing Pain in Childbirth, C-Section, VBAC and Breastfeeding. To find these resources go to kp.org/mydoctor and enter pregnancy in the search box on the top right hand corner of the screen. Want more? Go to kp.org/pregnancy for even more resources such as our baby care video, a checklist of what to bring to the hospital, information on setting up a nursery and much more! Preparing for your baby PRENATAL CLASS SERIES (see dates and times below) Along with your scheduled visits with your doctor or nurse practitioner our Early, Mid and Late Pregnancy classes are considered a routine part of your prenatal care. In these classes you will: Meet with a registered nurse or health educator Interact with other expectant parents Receive current information on pregnancy and what you can expect Have a chance to ask questions and express concerns in a group setting You should attend an Early Pregnancy class in your first 12 weeks of pregnancy. You will learn about: Common symptoms and comfort Staying healthy during pregnancy measures Nutrition and exercise Kaiser resources You should attend a Late Pregnancy class between weeks 32 and 36 of your pregnancy.
