Principal Investigator, A National Survey of Parole present This project, which involves two phases, seeks to determine the extent to which evidence-based practices are being used in parole supervision across the U.S. Principal Investigator, Inter-Agency Relationships and Offender Outcomes This project involves a sequential series of studies aimed at understanding the predictors, frequency, and importance of inter-agency communication for agencies involved in offender rehabilitation and community reintegration. Co-Principal Investigator, Self-Perceptions of Violence Risk Project Coordinator, Self-Perceptions of Violence Risk Building upon the pilot study (below), this study examines 650 psychiatric inpatients perceptions of their risk for violence in the community upon discharge and the factors that influence their own self risk assessments. In a pilot sample of 250 psychiatric inpatients diagnosed with an Axis I Disorder and a cooccurring substance use disorder, this study examines the accuracy of patient s self-perceptions of their own violence risk and the factors that go into these judgments. Principal Investigator, Therapeutic Relationships in Mandated Treatment This dissertation study seeks to examines (1) the nature of the relationships that probationers with mental disorder have with their primary mental health treatment providers, and (2) whether or not 13
14 the relationship goes beyond customary core correctional principles (Risk-Needs-Responsivity) in predicting criminal justice outcomes. Project Coordinator, Outcomes for Probationers with Mental Illness Comparing 180 probationers on specialty probation to 180 PMDs on traditional probation, this study examines systemic, relationship, and individual factors that contribute to the criminal justice and mental health outcomes of probationers with mental disorder. Project Co-Coordinator, Psychopathic Traits in Juveniles This study investigated the relationship between psychopathic traits and other personality traits and delinquent behavior in juveniles involved in the juvenile justice system.
