Hedges has extensive experience in e-discovery and in management of complex civil litigation matters. He was appointed in 1986 as a U.S. magistrate judge in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, where he served as the compliance judge for the Court Mediation Program, a member of the Lawyers Advisory Committee, and both a member and reporter for the Civil Justice Reform Act Advisory Committee. He is the author of among others titles Discovery of Electronically-Stored Information: Surveying the Legal Landscape (BNA: 2007). From 2001 to 2005 he was a member of the Advisory Group of Magistrate Judges. He has also been adjunct professor at Seton Hall University School of Law and is currently an adjunct professor at Georgetown University Law Center.
