2 General Information All classes are carried out in small group settings to ensure individual attention. Course information found in this document is subject to changes. Allocated credits are based on the European Credits Transfer System (ECTS) The ECTS credits given in this list of courses may vary according to work load. For any questions please feel free to contact the international office at Languages and Soft Skills German Language Courses (2-6 ECTS) Regular (intensive) lecture The PFH undertakes to offer all incoming students a German language course either internally or through our partner language institutes free of charge (subject to regular attendance and successful completion of the respective exam). Business English Courses Module BA 4.1: English I General Review (3 ECTS) 1. Grammar review 2. Review of expressions 3. Communication skills: discussions and presentations 4. Writing summaries of newspaper articles 5. Review: how to avoid typical mistakes An oral exam (15min) takes place at the end of the term. Module BA 13.1: English III Job Application/General Management (3 ECTS) 1. Special vocabulary on job application and general management 2. CV development 3. Correspondence 2

Recruitment An oral exam (15min) takes place at the end of the term. Module BA 21.1: English V The Product (3 ECTS) From the conception of a product up to its launch, this seminar focuses on the special vocabulary used in business plan development, market research, including a case study on internet market research and production, the products and their specifications and product life cycle. An oral exam (15min) takes place at the end of the term. Module MA 3.1: Business English I Marketing Management (2 ECTS) Students will be able to discuss marketing themes in English using the appropriate vocabulary. This seminar looks at all the different marketing management topics, including advertising, direct marketing and promotional tools. The different ways of promoting products for B2B marketing up to the internet as promotional tool. A written exam (60min) will be held at the end of the term. Other Foreign Language Courses (2 ECTS) Foreign language courses are open to all students: Spanish, French, Russian, Chinese, etc. A minimum of five participants is required for a course to take place. 5 Courses held in English Bachelor Courses Modules BA 2.3: International Focus I (2 ECTS) Block lecture and term paper s make way for the intensive international focus week in November; lectures, seminars, and discussions are held on a number of topics such as European integration, the Russian economy, economic development in China or, for example, politics and economics in the UK. Term paper and presentation Modules BA 11.3: International Focus III (2 ECTS) Block lecture and term paper s make way for the intensive international focus week in November; lectures, seminars, and discussions are held on a number of topics such as European integration, the Russian economy, economic development in China or, for example, politics and economics in the UK. Since the modules run parallel, lectures often clash, in which case students may probably attend only one of the two courses. Term paper Module BA 11.1: Management and Business Administration in Different Economic Sectors (2 ECTS) Students learn to understand and analyze management problems which may occur in different settings and industries. They get a better understanding of specific issues relating to industry, trade and the service sector. Module BA 11.2: Global Economy (4 ECTS) This course focuses on the determinants and consequences of international integration and economic transactions on goods and factor markets. Students learn how to deal with the interdependencies of entrepreneurial challenges, economic developments and political framework conditions in a globalizing world. 5

Module BA 12.1: Practical Project (6 ECTS) Case study / Project work Projects are assigned to students in groups of three to five. Increasing the international attractiveness of a company, analysing and comparing regional clusters, Business Process Management, etc. Students are to write a report and then present their project work to their respective supervisors and principal (contracting body). Module BA 12.2: Economic Simulation Game I (2 ECTS) Term paper and presentation/ simulation In groups of five students, policy-making of the government is being simulated. Students assume positions such as finance minister, president of the central bank, leader of a trade union, etc. They discuss and take policy decisions in a real-world environment and learn how their decisions shape the actual economy. 6
7 Master Courses Module MA 2.3: Sales Management I (6 ECTS) Students enhance their understanding of sales management as a core function of a company. 1 Introduction into sales policy 2 Sales strategies 3 Sales channels and management 4 Customer orientation A written exam (120min) will be held at the end of the term. Students have the option to write an accompanying assignment during the term, in which case a further 3 ECTS credits may be obtained, making a total of 9 credits. Module MA 2.4: International Marketing I (6 ECTS) Students learn how to explain consumer behaviour based on an understanding of marketing that is founded on social-scientific theories of psychology and sociology. Learning the concept of Integrated Marketing provides the students with a perspective, or rather, a model that allows them to analyse the effects of company s marketing activities and their interaction. 1 Social-scientific theory and empiricism 2 The concept of integrated marketing 3 Brand management 4 Brand Communication A written exam (120min) will be held at the end of the term.
