Was will mein Gesprächspartner? Was will ich sagen? 2. Beim Reden mit oder ohne Gesprächspartner: Benutze vertraute Wendungen. Expressing opinion Agreeing Disagreeing As far as I can see I think / I suppose / I d say / I believe Let me add I m convinced that You re absolutely right. I think that s a good / an important point. has my full support is completely right Well, I don t think so. I see your point, but You may be right, but I m afraid, I don t agree with.. / Can you say that again, please? Bitte um eine Pause: Just a moment, please.

M What to expect? Each time you call: you will hear a recorded message that tells you about how TEEN HELP works. Desperate? Frustrated? Angry? Sad? Helpless? TEEN HELP is a non-profit telephone service specifically for young people aged between 10 and 20. Call us at at any time we are there! Call us if you need someone to listen want to talk about something don t know what to do want to feel better No problem is too small or too big for us. You'll talk directly with a counsellor when you call TEEN HELP. If you want, you can talk to us for as long as you like. Some calls only last a few minutes and others can last up to an hour. Don t hesitate, don t think twice - call us! Deciding to talk to someone about your life is a big step! Sometimes young people feel a bit nervous when they call us for the first time. The info on the right might be useful when you make that first call. After listening to this message, you will be connected with a counsellor. When TEEN HELP gets really busy, sometimes we will need to put you on hold until a counsellor is available. Relax, take your time we want to talk to you! The counsellor you speak to will tell you his or her name, so if you call again, you can ask to speak to the same person. Your counsellor will ask you what you would like to talk about and ask you some questions to help understand what's going on. If you need to talk to someone now, call us on hours a day, 7 days a week.
M No problem is too small! If you have a problem or just want to talk with another teen who understands, then this is the right place for you! TEEN LINE is a confidential telephone helpline for teenage callers. It operates every evening from 6:00pm to 10:00pm and is toll-free from anywhere in California. Marc, 15: I felt very depressed and low when my girl-friend split up with me after a few months. I was lucky that I came across the TEEN LINE helpline. It was just right for me: No do this, why don t you do that!. The TEEN LINE volunteer only listened and I felt understood. It makes a difference talking to someone who is your age and somehow knows what you are talking about and how you feel. TEEN LINE also offers help, online chat, resources and information. The TEEN LINE volunteers who answer the calls, s and chats are Southern California teenagers who have been specially trained. They won't judge you or give advice their job is to listen to your feelings and help you to clarify your worries and concerns, point out your options, and help you make positive decisions. No problem is too small, too big, or too shocking for the TEEN LINE volunteers abuse, AIDS, alcoholism, depression, divorce, drugs, gangs, homelessness, pregnancy, sexuality, violence, suicide. Mental health professionals support our TEEN LINE volunteers in traumatic situations if help is needed. Each year nearly 9,000 young people call the hotline and more than 30,000 attend our outreaches. Teens know they can trust TEEN LINE and they do. Get in touch with us! Sam, 17: I had a hard time when my parents split up. Being at home was a real nightmare! I couldn t talk to my friends at school about it and since I am an only child I felt as if there was no-one I could turn to. TEEN LINE help changed everything for me. No matter how bad I felt, those people at TEEN LINE were always there for me they still are! Ami, 16: A friend of mine got pregnant at the age of 15 and I simply did not know how to help her or what to do. My older sister told me about TEEN LINE. My friend got the support she needed there. The TEEN LINE volunteers impressed me so much that I became interested in their work. After a very professional training course I am now a TEEN LINE volunteer myself. Finally, I am able to help!
Taking a year out after school to do something else can does wonders for your skills, confidence and CV. Many people take a gap year before starting college or work, but you could take one at any time. Gap years: the possibilities In your gap year, you could do anything: Volunteer abroad Do some work experience in the UK to build up your skills See a bit of the world Get to know foreign cultures. Taking a gap year is a good way of gaining more experience in new environments before going on to further apprenticeship or study. Whatever you do, taking a gap year could be a good way to help your confidence and to become more independent before university. There are lots of volunteering opportunities available that might be relevant to your future career plans. You might want to: Help out at a leisure centre during summer holidays Be a conservation volunteer at a park or National Trust site Volunteer at international festivals, sporting events and exhibitions Full-time volunteering away from home If you're prepared to live away from home, you might think about full-time volunteering through an organisation like Community Service Volunteers (CSV). You need to be available for 4 to 12 months, and willing to go to wherever you're sent in the UK. You don't have to have any experience, specialist skills or qualifications, just enthusiasm. You'll be placed where you're needed the most and will receive help, advice and training when you arrive at your placement. You should expect to work up to 40 hours per week, and this may include weekends. If you volunteer with CSV, you will receive an allowance, and accommodation and food will be free. Boost your career prospects Even if getting a job seems a long way off, taking a gap year can also look good on your CV. Potential employers see that you have spent time broadening your horizons and learning new skills. If you want to go to college or university, a gap year shows that you are committed to your education. You may find that you approach learning in a different way after a year out.
