In this project, I manage multiple datasets and conduct various statistical analyses, including cluster analyses, hierarchical multiple regression analyses, factor analyses, and descriptive statistics Graduate Research Intern, Education and Data Development Program Area, Child Trends, Washington, DC, Supervisor: Daniel Princiotta, Senior Research Scientist Main projects explored the effectiveness of charter schools in the United States and recovery of students who drop out of high school. In these projects, I conducted literature reviews, conducted statistical analyses on large national datasets using Microsoft Excel, SPSS, and STATA, and formatted research briefs and reports Graduate Research Assistant/Data Collection Supervisor, Maryland Literacy Research Center, University of Maryland, College Park, Project: Reading Engagement for Adolescent Learning (REAL) for students participating in the Concept-Oriented Reading Instruction (CORI) intervention, Principal Investigators: Professor John T. Guthrie and Professor Allan Wigfield The Reading Engagement for Adolescent Learning (REAL) project examined the effectiveness of concept-oriented reading instruction (CORI) on motivation and cognition in seventh grade classrooms. 5 time points for 1400 students from 4 different schools; this work included managing all logistic responsibilities for data collection within middle schools, modifying and randomizing measures, supervising data collection procedures with teachers and other research staff, and organizing and filing completed assessments Graduate Research Assistant, Maryland Literacy Research Center, University of Maryland, College Park, Project: Reading Engagement for Adolescent Learning (REAL) for students participating in the Concept-Oriented Reading Instruction (CORI) intervention, Principal Investigators: Professor John T. Guthrie and Professor Allan Wigfield The REAL project examined the effectiveness of CORI on motivation and cognition in seventh grade classrooms. In this project, I created rubrics to holistically analyze situated cognitions (i.e., inferencing, summarizing, and concept mapping skills exhibited on assignments completed during CORI), managed undergraduate research assistants, revised questionnaires, assisted with data collection, and analyzed data with correlation, regression, factor, and structural equation modeling (SEM) analyses Graduate Research Assistant/Lab Director, Attachment Laboratory, Illinois State University, Project: My Ideal Infant, Principal Investigator: Professor Gary Creasey Project explored how non-parent undergraduate students perceptions of their hypothetical ideal infant related to students attachment style as classified by the Adult Attachment Interview (AAI). In this project, I managed the research lab, which included supervising undergraduate students, creating data collection and transcription schedules, training proper administration and transcription of the AAI, administering the AAI and Attachment Q-sort (AQS), entering data into SPSS, cleaning dataset, and analyzing data Graduate Research Assistant/Adult Attachment Interview (AAI) Administrator, Attachment Laboratory, Illinois State University, Project: Attachment and Responsiveness to Infant Cries, Supervisor: Professor Gary Creasey Project explored how undergraduate students attachment style as classified by the AAI influenced how students responded to various infant cries. In this project, I administered the AAI and AQS to research participants Research Intern/Policy Analyst, National Headquarters, Rural Women New Zealand, Supervisor: Noeline Holt, Executive Officer Projects generally explored the state of early childhood education in rural New Zealand. In these projects, I researched early childhood education and special education in rural New Zealand, read and wrote reports on proposed Parliament policies, attended stakeholder meetings with the Executive Officer, edited the Rural Bulletin for the constituents of Rural Women New Zealand, and completed general administrative duties for the Executive Officer. 6 Teaching Experience Instructor Human Development through the Life Span, University of Maryland, Fall 2011, Spring 2012 I independently taught up to two sections per semester of approximately 45 undergraduate students with various majors. I independently developed the syllabi, course assignments, exams, lectures, and all class activities. I also completed all grading and provided students with written feedback on all assignments. Guest Instructor Cognitive Development and Learning, University of Maryland, Fall 2012, Spring 2013 I created and delivered lectures on Attachment and Identity to classes of approximately 30 undergraduate students. Educational Psychology, Illinois State University, Spring 2009 I created and delivered lectures on Vygotsky s theory, transfer, and motivation to a class of approximately 100 students. Laboratory in Research Methods: Developmental, Illinois State University, Summer 2008 I created and delivered a lecture on how instruction might influence intrinsic and extrinsic motivation to approximately 10 graduate and undergraduate students. Graduate Teaching Assistant Cognitive Development and Learning, University of Maryland, Fall 2012, Spring 2013 I created and graded exams and in-class reading reflections for up to two sections of 30 students each, created grading rubrics for all class activities, proctored exams, and aided students in learning by holding weekly in-person and online office hours and promptly addressing students questions via .
