2 Understand the world to be able to change it. At a crossroad Humanity has reached a crossroad in its relationship with the Earth. Modern-day economic, ecological and social upheaval is such that we have no choice but to develop new solutions. More than ever our future depends on agriculture and our ability to innovate safer and more efficient production methods to generate abundance essential to ensure our food security but which use resources more sparingly. Our task now is to continue to do more and better. What kind of agriculture will we need tomorrow? What kind of men and women will our agriculture need tomorrow? For us at Esitpa, as a centre for agricultural learning and research, these two questions are intrinsically related. To rise to the challenges of this new form of agriculture, we have a duty to train excellent scientists who will turn out as responsible men and women. What makes Esitpa s programs different? We cultivate multidisciplinarity for a better understanding of the complexity of the challenges facing the worlds of agriculture and business. We cultivate creative thought to envisage the solutions of the future. We cultivate open-mindedness to be able to adapt in a constantly evolving world. And finally, we cultivate a sense of responsibility and humanity so that our answers are always beneficial to Mankind and respectful of our planet. Daniel Roche Director of Esitpa
