2 213 Michigan Construction Career Days Facts The Michigan Construction Career Days (MICCD) event is based on the National Career Day model and developed through the guidance of a Michigan construction industry lead advisory board. Since 28, MICCD has been Michigan s premiere construction career exploration event. MICCD provides Michigan s young people a chance to experience construction up-close, getting the chance to use real tools, materials and heavy equipment under the direct guidance of construction professionals from throughout the industry. To date, approximately 7,5+ middle and high school students have experienced MICCD. These young people not only see what construction is, but learn of the training and educational paths to secure the good paying jobs a career in construction provides. MICCD has received local media coverage, recognition and support from the National Construction Career Days Center, Associated General Contractors (AGC), Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT), and various other state trade associations, apprenticeship training programs and educational institutions. Leaders of MICCD have spoken at many trade association meetings to share the many MICCD successes. During the 213 event, the MICCD Advisory Committee was proud to host Michigan Governor, Rick Snyder.
