2 Figure 2 An exceptionally flexible converged solution, UCP for Microsoft Private Cloud with Unified Compute Platform Director simplifies deployment and management of data centers and private cloud deployments. When combined with the Microsoft System Center suite of products and Windows Azure Pack s selfservice portal capabilities, Hitachi and Microsoft enable an enterprise-class, end-to-end Private Cloud platform that gives administrators unparalleled power and control to provide infrastructure as a service to their tenants. This document details how to deploy Microsoft Windows Azure Pack to provide self-service access for your Microsoft Private Cloud on Hitachi s Unified Compute Platform Director. This document is written for IT professionals who are responsible for administering a Microsoft Private Cloud environment with Unified Compute Platform director and intend to implement the Microsoft Windows Azure pack. It is expected that readers have basic knowledge of Microsoft Private Cloud environments and Hyper-V administration skills. 2015, Hitachi Data Systems, Inc. Page 2 of 39 pages

3 Solution Overview In the Hitachi Unified Compute Platform for Microsoft Private Cloud, management VMs run on a management cluster consisting of two Hitachi Compute Rack 210 rackmount servers. The two prominent virtual machines that are referenced during installation are the SQL database server (SQL.ucp.local) and the System Center Virtual Machine Manager server (SCVMM.ucp.local). This document assumes that SQL server 2012 and System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2012 R2 are installed. To provide increased performance and scalability for Microsoft Windows Azure Pack (WAP), this architecture separates the WAP components into six different virtual machines. Each VM has a unique role that contributes to the Azure Pack operation, and can be resized/modified to address any operational requirements that arise. This modular approach allows administrators to adjust resources on-the-fly to compensate for any utilization requirements, proactive or reactive. Administrators can utilize System Center Operations Manager to monitor performance and application availability from the perspective of both the virtual hosts and their virtual machines. Hitachi also provides System Center Operations Manager management packs to extend monitoring and management capabilities through to the hardware infrastructure. Figure 3 shows the high level architecture used to deploy the Windows Azure Pack on UCP Director. Figure , Hitachi Data Systems, Inc. Page 3 of 39 pages
