4 THE PANEL S TOP 10 ADULT TITLES WITH UP TO 52.5% DISCOUNT House At Bishopsgate by Katie HIckman Bloomsbury HB Set in James 1 reign, the house of Bishopsgate is transformed to a luxurious mansion for the rich merchant and his wife. But the family have their troubles and life is increasingly difficult in their beautiful house. A gripping family drama set in turbulent times. The historical accuracy makes this a very fascinating tale. Panel Member: Sarah Donaldson - Red Lion Books Jonathan Unleashed by Meg Rosoff Bloomsbury PB Fast paced and good fun, confirming what all dog owners know the redemptive power of canine companions. Panel Member:Dinah Anderson - Bookshrop Landskipping by Anna Pavord Bloomsbury PB A stunning evocation of the British landscape, which reads as a collection of well honed short stories, with the perfect thread running throughout, of her great love and respect for the British Isles. I turned first to one of the places I know best Wasdale, in the Lake District, and her breathtaking description of a hound trail set the tone for the rest of the book. I will happily recommend this book in the shop, covering Britain from Skye to Dorset, in intimate detail. Panel Member: Sally Pattle- Far From The Madding Crowd Yuki Chan In Bronte Country by Mick Jackson Faber & Faber PB A wonderfully wintery whodunit, just right for the season. Packed with tension, intrigue and a wild English setting, this novel shows a memorable writing style as well as bringing a delightful east meets west twist to a potentially ordinary mystery genre. Perfect to curl up with on a cold February day. Panel Member: Richard Knowles - Rickaro Books Birds Art Life Death by Kyo Maclear HarperCollins HB A meditation about birds and the power of nature to heal. The birds in the city provided endless fascination, a year of birdwatching, a year of nurture. A book in a genre we find increasingly important Panel Member: Sarah Donaldson - Red Lion Books 4 WITH UP TO 52.5% DISCOUNT FROM 01/02/17 UNTIL 14/03/17 NO MINIMUM QUANTITY NO SCALE OUTS RETURNABLE*

5 THE PANEL S TOP 10 ADULT TITLES WITH UP TO 52.5% DISCOUNT Victorians Undone by Kathryn Hughes HarperCollins HB This is a remarkable look at the Victorians and their era through tales of the extraordinary adventures of the human body. From Darwin s beard to Queen Victoria s personal hygiene, and from the origin of Sweet Fanny Adams to some of the more intriguing medical cases of the day, this book looks at the Victorians from the inside out. Panel Member: Mike Sansbury - Grove Bookshop The Fatal Tree by Jake Arnott Hodder & Stoughton HB From the author of The Long Firm, a rip-roaring historical tale set in the shadow of Tyburn. This could be a big hit with its cast of pickpockets, whores and housebreakers. London underworld crime with a period twist, as characters battle to avoid the noose in 1720s England. Panel Member: Mike Sansbury - Grove Bookshop Before The Rains by Dinah Jeffries Penguin Books HB Dinah Jeffries has been giving Santa Montefiore a run for her money this last year, with her exotic settings and familiar family set pieces. A challenge in hardback, no doubt, but at 12.99, I think she ll hold her own for Mother s Day purchases. Panel Member: Dinah Anderson - Bookshrop The Best Of Adam Sharp by Graeme Simsion Penguin Books HB Graeme Simsion seems to have championed the male underdog with his writing, and this novel looks at a young middle aged Adam approaching 50 wondering what if when he gets the chance to re-live the passion he had with a former girlfriend, who is the complete opposite of the woman he went on to marry. Panel Member: Dinah Anderson - Bookshrop A Gentleman In Moscow by Amor Towles Random House HB This is a stunning and timely novel from the author of Rules of Civility. It s 1922 and in post-revolution Russia, Count Rostov is deemed to be an unrepentant aristocrat and sentenced to lifelong house arrest in the luxurious Metropol hotel, opposite the Kremlin. For a man who s never had a purpose, he suddenly discovers there s more to life than caviar and vodka. Ideal for fans of The Grand Budapest Hotel, this captures a time in Russian history with great style and grace. Panel Member: Sally Pattle - Far From The Madding Crowd WITH UP TO 52.5% DISCOUNT FROM 01/02/17 UNTIL 14/03/17 NO MINIMUM QUANTITY NO SCALE OUTS RETURNABLE* 5

8 THE PANEL S TOP 10 CHILDREN S TITLES WITH UP TO 55% DISCOUNT The Dragon With A Chocolate Heart by Stephanie Burgis Bloomsbury Children s Books PB Aventurine is a dragon who is tricked by a human into drinking enchanted hot chocolate which promptly turns her into a twelve-year-old girl. Still all fiery dragon inside, she sets off to conquer her new obsession chocolate. Perfect for younger readers, but will also be enjoyed by anyone who sometimes feels a little bit fiery inside. Panel Member: Sally Pattle- Far From the Madding Crowd Amazing Animal Babies by Chris Packham Egmont Books PB A wonderful fact-filled book, packed with exciting illustration and facts about the babies of the natural world. A fun introduction to the natural world for new readers and an expansion on existing knowledge for slightly more independent readers, there is something for everybody in this book. Panel Member: Richard Knowles - Rickaro Books Mostly Mary by Gwynedd Rae Egmont Books HB Simple story lines, but with lots of fun and mischief, as Mary Plane and her friends and family enjoy life in the Zoo in Berne. That aspect might seem to be slightly out of step these days, but to read about this very unusual little bear and her adventures will become a real pleasure for a whole new generation Panel Member: Sally Pattle- Far From the Madding Crowd 15 Things Not To Do With A Granny by Margaret McAllister Frances Lincoln Childrens PB I m not sure it is very wise to let this book get into the hands of small children. Far too many ideas for things to torment grannies with. Very funny. Panel Member: Sarah Donaldson - Red Lion Books There s A Tiger In The Garden by Lizzy Stewart Frances Lincoln Childrens PB Clever inversion of the plots of books like The Tiger Who Came to Tea and Not Now Bernard; this time it s Grandma who says she s seen something ridiculous. Nora knows there are some very odd things in the garden, but surely not a tiger? Panel Member: Mike Sansbury - Grove Bookshop 8 WITH UP TO 55% DISCOUNT FROM 01/02/17 UNTIL 14/03/17 NO MINIMUM QUANTITY NO SCALE OUTS RETURNABLE*
