2 COURSES DESCRIPTION OF THE MANAGEMENT PROGRAMME PRELIMINARY The choice of this department has been motivated by the following main factors: Responding to the request of many Rwandese citizens who need to study; The availability of qualified Management s lectures in the country; The desire to provide the country with sufficient human resources skilled in various fields of management such as accounting, financial management, marketing, principles of management, and so forth. Our program s courses are similar to those of Rwandan National University. However, some courses are improved with an emphasis on the moral values and the quality of the practical knowledge. The general aim of this program being to provide students with a solid training and education in Management, lecturers are required to put an emphasis on the relationship between what is taught and the actual reality in the Rwandan environment. The theories of courses, the practical assignments and exercises allow the students to: Acquire and master the concepts, the fundamental principles and the appropriate methods of management; Perform a deep analysis of real situations and find operational solutions to challenging situations; Have sufficient skills for effective services to be rendered within both public and private organizations. Based on the decision of the our University to adopt the reformation suggested by the National Counsel of Higher Education (NCHE), the program of the first year class is different from those of other classes. It is made up of modules, each module being a set of one or two units according to the relationships of various courses. This is a new program which has started from the academic year of 2009 and will be extended to other classes year after year. That is, next year (2010), the 2 nd year class will adopt the new program; the 3 rd year class will adopt the new program from 2011 and the 4 th year class, which corresponds with the last year 2
