3 Faith Believing in what you can t see because of what you can see.

4 Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. (Hebrews 11:2) The ancients were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised. (Hebrews 11:39) Faith is a gift from God. (Ephesians 2:8)

5 A possession denotes ownership, protection, and guardianship. As a believer, you are a possession belonging to the Lord, receiving His protection and guardianship over your life.

6 A repentant heart and daily nourishment of God s Word are appropriate responses to the ownership of God over your life. Your deliberate commitment to prayer and a disciplined study of God s Word are essential for a fruitful faith.

7 Commit to prayer and Bible study daily. Acknowledge and accept your circumstances and determine solutions to the impediments to growing closer to the Lord and nurturing your faith. Turn stumbling blocks into stepping stones. If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.

8 Faith comes from hearing scripture and is nurtured when we apply scripture to our lives and circumstances.

9 Priscilla Shirer provided several suggestions for young mothers with small children in her Bible Study Anointed to develop a God-consciousness in their lives:

10 Print a scripture verse or two in a large font and tape it on the bathroom mirror to meditate on while brushing little teeth or washing little hands (you could even use a dry erase marker on the mirror itself!) Pray breath prayers-small sentence prayers as they come to you throughout the day.

11 Play worship music or Christian radio during the day. Pray over the laundry. You would be surprised how well your family will be covered in prayer as you lift your family up to the Lord one piece of clothing at a time!

12 Wake up before the family and go for a walk or jog, using this time to exercise the body and pray to the Lord. Every day, visit the outdoors with your children discussing the beauty of nature and reveal God s greatness to them.

13 Incorporate a quiet time of meditation (not naptime) for entire family during the day (even the most rambunctious twoyear-old can learn to be still and ponder the greatness of the Lord for five minutes.) Before getting out of bed each morning, offer yourself as a living sacrifice to God and ask Him specifically to make you aware of His presence throughout the day.

14 Make an A-B-C listing of the attributes of God or the blessings from God. Memorize this listing to remember the faithfulness of the Lord during difficult times.

15 A- Command His angels charge over me (Matthew 4:6) B- Baptized with the Holy Spirit (Acts 11:6) C- Jesus is the cornerstone of my life (Ephesians 2:20)

16 A nurtured faith enables a person to face fears, to overcome obstacles, and to weather the storms of life with courage, strength, and godly wisdom.

17 Which suggestions for nurturing your faith will you implement this week?

18 Be faithful to your word as a parent. Do not make piecrust promises, which are easily made and easily broken. A promise is too precious to be carelessly made. Your child s heart will suffer from broken promises and create doubt and insecurity in their lives.

19 Protecting the sanctity of your word and the preciousness of promises will prepare your child to honor the promise of his/her wedding vows and believe whole-heartedly in the promises of the Lord.
