1 General Information Company: Northwestern Michigan College Supervisor: Employee: Department: Office of Research, Planning and Effectiveness Employee No: Detail Job Title: Coordinator of Data Reporting and Analysis Preparer Name: Effective Date: 10/14/2015 Location: FLSA Status: Exempt Functional Job Title: Coordinator of Data Reporting and Analysis Position Summary Under the supervision of the Executive Director for Institutional Research, Planning, & Effectiveness, this position coordinates the College s external reporting and serves as the primary contact for providing institutional data to the state and federal government and accreditation agencies. This position identifies opportunities for which institutional research, descriptive analytics, predictive analytics, statistical methodologies, and/or other decision support tools can be applied to provide solutions or assist decision makers; conducts extensive research on topics that are important to higher education and the College; examines data in search of patterns and other useful information to inform decision making; serves on various committees at the College, and provides analytical support to various departments across campus. Essential Responsibilities (Critical) Compiles quantitative and qualitative data from College systems and from external sources to perform data analyses for internal and external customers, (e.g. ad hoc data and research requests, evaluation and policy research, benchmarking, and survey research). (Critical) Conducts data mining, creates or identifies databases, analyzes existing data and generates new data based on institutional needs in support of decision making. (Critical) Collaborates with multiple departments across campus on a regular basis in an effort to coordinate resources for the timely preparation and submission of federal, state, and accreditation agency mandates. (Critical) Executes programs and data queries in support of ad hoc requests, external surveys, and regulatory/non regulatory reporting functions. (Critical) Compiles, organizes and analyzes data using SPSS, authors analytical reports and creates clear and comprehensive documentation for processes, and presents data in meaningful formats (e.g., tables, charts, graphs) to various audiences. (Critical) Develops and continually improves data management procedures, programming, and documentation, and data organization methodology. (Critical) Collaborates with staff on the design and update of the departmental web presence, including working with the content management system. (Critical) Investigates, plans and applies critical thinking using descriptive (e.g., frequency distributions and correlations) and inferential (e.g., predictive analytics, statistical methodologies) statistics to develop solutions to inform decision makers on important and relevant strategic level goals for the College. (Critical) Critical) Coordinates the college's survey research capacity by designing survey instruments, determining administration methods, supervising supplemental phone callers, and coordinating with survey software vendors. (Very Important) Supports survey research by assisting in the design of survey instruments and administering surveys. (Very Important) Collaborates with the Assessment Coordinator to manage the logistics of assessment method administration, including communicating with vendors, organizing student work, and organizing scoring day details. 1/5
