Continuous reinvention Our business is constantly adapting to market forces, delivering high-value solutions and opportunities for our clients. The mark of a long legacy is a willingness to undergo transformation time and time again in a rapidly changing industry. Since we got our start in the payments space more than 30 years ago, TSYS has evolved from a supporting role serving issuers and acquirers to directly touching hundreds of thousands of merchants and millions of consumers. For years, TSYS core business had been providing third-party processing for bank issuers and merchant acquirers. We started processing for a few hundred financial institutions that needed their credit card and merchant portfolios serviced. When market forces demanded it, we became a direct merchant acquirer, touching hundreds of thousands of small- and mid-tier businesses. Today, we have transformed again to directly connect with millions of underbanked consumers who use our general-purpose reloadable (GPR) prepaid cards for an experience that is positive and empowering. Behind every account number, we see an individual with goals and dreams. It is our belief that everyone should have access to basic financial services, whether over the Web, on a mobile device, on an airplane, at a car-rental counter, or anywhere cash is commonly accepted. Our growing licensing business for our issuer, acquirer and prepaid card management software, PRIME SM, supports banks in both developed and developing nations because of its natural flexibility. 5 Customer experience is tantamount We see innovation and evolution happening at an incredible speed within the financial technology, payments, mobile and commerce spaces. Many of these ideas involve enhancing the customer experience and taking friction out of the process. Payments are becoming increasingly embedded in consumer experiences and conveniences, without an explicit conventional step such as swiping a card.
