2 Purpose: To serve as a scientific meeting for the research group and help to draw together the conclusions of the project and setting aims for further research To report and interpret the results derived from the international crosscultural research on individualized nursing care in eight countries To learn the conduct of an international cross-cultural nursing research To identify challenges, problems and solutions to ensure the comparability of the results in comparative studies The scientific symposium acts (a) as a work shop for the international research group, b) as a learning possibility for doctoral students at the Finnish Post- Graduate School on Nursing Science, and c) as an international course for doctoral and master students of the University of Turku, Department of Nursing Science. This scientific symposium is based on the two international collaborative studies on individualised care: Part V: ICProject International Nurse Study - Individualised care from the nurses' point of view - a comparative international study. The results of the Part V will be presented and interpreted during this symposium, and this symposium also serves as a closing event for the long lasting study. Credits: Learning methods: Literature: 1 ECTS / 2 ECTS Participation in 2 days symposium, symposium presentations/special lectures, independent reading, an optional written paper. See the list below. You may also include selected literature regarding your own research topic and the topic chosen. Written paper: In order to earn 2 ects a student may write a paper/ an essay (max 10 pages with references) on the selected topic in the cross-cultural comparative research in nursing science. Choose the topic from the themes that appeared during the symposium, but relating the topic also for your own research/study interest. Find appropriate scientific and methodological literature to describe, reason and question the topic. Find also possible solutions to anticipate or solve the problematic or challenging situation in cross-cultural comparative (nursing) research based on the literature.
