I have so many things to write, there is no way I could possibly type them all myself, nor is that the best use of my time, he says. Transcribing is time-consuming and requires a lot of concentration, so it wasn t their favorite activity, he says. They would rather be at court or doing research. Exploring new workflow While browsing the Philips dictation website for an updated handheld recorder, Duvadie learned about the Pocket Memo as well as SpeechLive and the SpeechScribe transcription service. The handheld recorder appeared to deliver the kind of performance and functionality he expected from Philips, while SpeechScribe was intriguing due to the firm s transcription challenge. Some lawyers are averse to change, but I enjoy trying new technologies, he says. So when I saw that SpeechScribe had a free trial, I was eager to test out the service. For his test, Duvadie dictated two memos into his Pocket Memo and uploaded them to SpeechLive through his Philips SpeechExec Pro workflow management software. Improved productivity Since the trial period, Duvadie has been sending all his dictations for transcription to SpeechScribe.
