2 HOW DOES IT WORK? and Merchants authorize us to sell gi cer ficates to their business on The cer ficates sell for half-off. The money from selling gi cer ficates is split with Deal Pickle receiving 25% and the merchant receiving 75% which is placed in an account to fund your adver sing in the Community Values Magazine. HOW MANY CERTIFICATES DOES IT TAKE TO BUY AN AD IN 1 ISSUE OF THE COMMUNITY VALUES MAGAZINE? Example: (Figure based on our lowest monthly rates) A pizza company commits to do a 1/4 Page Ad for a period of 8 issues in the Community Values Magazine based on our 6-month rate of $225 each issue. The pizza company agrees to sell $20 cer ficates on for $10 each. To pay for each ad in the magazine, they would only need to sell only 30 gi cer ficates each month for a total of 240 gi cer ficates in the 8-month/issue period. The split of revenue on each cer ficate sold is $7.50 to the pizza company and $2.50 to Deal Pickle. Deal Pickle handles orders, prints the cer ficates, tracks packages, handles merchant fees, and generally makes sure that your customers are happy and you are pleased with the gi cer ficates coming in the doors. As the pizza company sells the cer ficates on their 75% split is set aside automa cally to pay for the $225 ad. Once 30 cer ficates have sold, the $225 will be immediately available to the Community Values Magazine for withdrawal and your ad will be placed in the magazine.

5 FAQ S What do you get from Deal Pickle? Beau ful gi cer ficates, new customers, an individual web page with custom slide show, links back to your website, legi mate customer reviews, a custom business descrip on, and most of all, the ability to buy an ad in the Community Values Magazine without having to write a check or give a credit card number. How much does it cost to the Merchant? Only the cost of doing business. Do customers bring in print outs? No. Deal Pickle prints and mails out the gi cer ficates with your logo, in full color, and with no Deal Pickle informa- on whatsoever on the cer ficate. How many do you have to sell? Only as much as you want, but at least enough to pay for the ad. We encourage our merchants to start with 200 cer ficates, but you can start with 1 or 10 or It s up to you. Can I change the deal a er it has been set up? Yes. The control over the deal is in your hands! You decide how many cer ficates are available, total, at any given me. You can log into your account at any me and add new promo ons. If you change a promo on that is ed to an ad, we will let the Community Values Magazine know so they are never surprised with any changes. What restric ons are allowed for the gi cer ficates? Our standard restric ons are not good for alcohol, tax, gratuity, subject to availability and reserva on/appointment required. Every cer ficate goes out with the restric on not redeemable for cash. They are not required to have any restric ons other than not redeemable for cash, and we encourage merchants to have as few restric ons as possible. Can I add more restric ons? The less restric ons the be er - FOR YOU. Right now, 33% of the cer ficates sold are being sent to 3rd par es and are being used as gi s. The more restric ons you have on your cer ficates, the more it looks like a coupon, and the more likely it will be to get deal hunters, couponers and less legi mate customers. If I sell more than required to pay for the ad, what happens to that money? You can do any combina on of 3 things with the money: 1) Request a check at any me; 2) Buy more ads, or 3) Use the money to buy other half-off gi cer ficates. Which types of businesses sell the best? Restaurants! Restaurants consistently sell more than any other category. They are always a safe bet. If you wonder if your business would do well on Deal Pickle, as yourself if it is gi able. If it is, it s probably a good fit. Other categories that have sold well include health & wellness, beauty products, jewelers, discount centers, retail services, and family/children entertainment businesses.

6 When do the cer ficates expire? They don t. Every state has different laws regarding expira on dates and unclaimed property. Washington State is one of those states. So, to avoid any possible legal issues, we don t have any of the cer ficates expire. How do I log into my merchant account? You will need to go to Using the same address you gave us at the me you signed up and the password you chose when you receive our first , you can then log in and check any of the following informa on: Sales Areas where cer ficates are selling down to a zip code level How many have been purchased and given as gi s How many cer ficates are le for sale See your account history Request checks Purchase more adver sing Purchase other gi cer ficates You will also have the op on of marking each cer ficate as redeemed when customers bring them in. What do I do with the cer ficates when customers bring them in? Obviously, the first thing you need to do is provide a great customer experience. A er that, what you do is up to you. You can go to your merchant account and mark each cer ficate as redeemed, you can mark them in your own books, or you can toss them. Our cer ficates are cra ed specifically to make sure that counterfei ng one of our gi cer ficates would never happen without considerable difficulty and expense, so you never have to worry about duplicates showing up or counterfeits. Why can t my customers just print something out and use it that way? We don t have a print-at-home system like Groupon or AmazonLocal for some very good reasons: 1. Our gi cer ficates protect the branding of our merchants. Instead of taking in a piece of paper with Groupon or AmazonLocal s name all over it, our customers will bring in beau ful gi cer ficates that look like they were purchased directly from you, the merchant. The merchant s brand is preserved with the beauty of our cer ficates. 2. Our gi cer ficates preserve the value of our merchants. A printed coupon generally says something about a % discount of a $ amount discount. Our cer ficates only show an actual face value. It keeps the value of the cer ficate and the merchant high in the customer s mind. 3. A print-at-home coupon is not gi able, and the customers that buy from Groupon or AmazonLocal are different than our customers. Groupon and AmazonLocal bring merchants deal hunters and couponers, and while you ll get your fair share of both, generally our customers give our cer ficates as gi s much more o en (currently 33% of our cer ficates go out as gi s).
