5 1 Training Overview Training Structure Job-Orientated Training The training portfolio is job-oriented. It provides the sets of modules packaged to fulfill the needs of each job. These packages have been carefully designed to cover all the educational aspects of BSS Networks operators. The job-oriented training packages could be found at: Multi-Customer Training Ordering Training Training Delivery Teaching Language Training Documentation Training Location Number of Participants Training Platforms Training Prerequisites Multi-customer sessions are organized throughout the year. You can find the schedule of these sessions on the extranet. NOTE: The sessions are confirmed when there are at least four (4) participants. The training packages can be ordered globally as described in this document, but they can also be built by combining elementary training modules. NOTE: When ordering several training packages for the same trainees, check there are no duplicate modules. The same module can be part of several training packages. All training courses can be delivered in English. Most of them can also be delivered in other languages. Please refer to the individual training module description to check in what language the training module can be delivered. All training documentation given with the training course is only available in English. All training modules can be delivered either at Alcatel-Lucent premises or on the customer s site. As a general rule, the number of participants is 12 for theoretical training and 8 for practical training. For practical training, the number of participants depends on the amount of equipment required. When the training is requested on the customer s site, please check what equipment is available. Alcatel-Lucent has its own training platform for practice. When practical training is delivered on site, it is the responsibility of the customer to provide access to platforms. For each module, prerequisites are specified; please make sure the trainees fulfill them. 5 / 52

For example : Managers, Radio Engineers, BSS Engineers, Tendering Teams, Sales Teams, Marketing Teams, R&D Teams. This package of courses provides students with insights into what GSM is, how it works and how it is the starting point for 3G UMTS. Packages consist of multiple Courses. Users can choose to enroll in either full package or a few courses, whichever suits the learning need. Understanding of wireless systems 3FL99300AAAA GSM Introduction 1,5hs This course introduces students to the developmental history and evolution of GSM 2G technology. This non-technical course summarizes the historical challenge of uniting several disparate European markets under a single digital wireless telecommunications standard 3FL99301AAAA GSM Network Aspects 1,5hs This course takes students into the inner workings of a typical GSM network infrastructure, introducing the network elements (switch, HLR, VLR, Authentication Center, etc.), topology, and signaling protocols used within that network. 3FL99277AAAA Intro to GPRS: Data over GSM 1,5hs This course introduces students to General Packet Radio Service (GPRS), the wireless packet data technology offered by GSM networks. Theories, channel allocations, data rates, authentication protocols, tunneling, roaming and control details used by GPRS. Course Contents 3FL99302AAAA GSM Traffic Channel - 1,75hs This course takes a step-by-step approach to exploring the GSM traffic channel. The course explains how the air interface between the mobile station and the base transceiver station, processes users voices before transmitting 3FL99303AAAA GSM Logical/Physical Channels 2hs The GSM standard models its communication paths as logical channel and physical channels. Defined by an expressed purpose and information carried, a logical channel may contain a user's voice, data, or a particular type of control channel. In practice, a physical channel is a time slot on a frequency channel on the air interface. This course defines the channels, and maps the logical channels onto the physical channels. 3FL99304AAAA GSM System Capacity 1h This course explores the capacity of a GSM network. Comparisons are made to older, analog systems and other 2G systems. This course also offers a detailed discussion on interference reduction methods used in GSM. 18 / 52

Moreover, the essential added-value of the assessment is to bring an opportunity to detect and solve a misunderstanding issue in a critical task execution. The trainee attended the training courses relative to the assessment. After the practical course begins the assessment phase in which the trainee has to perform a selection of key exercises already seen during the course with the help of the : Electronic Customer Documentation Connection to 9100 BTS, 9130 BSC/MFS, 9125 TC, 9153 OMC-R, and/or 9959 NPO. Trainee's personal notes The "examiner" monitors the trainee during the practical session. At the end of the assessment, a report is made to the trainee and if requested to the customer. In this report, tasks acquired and tasks not acquired will be clearly identified. Note: assessment duration can be customized according to the number of equipments to do assessments on. 34 / 52
