CATALOG DESCRIPTION: This course examines the intersection of the workplace and psychology through the lens of I/O psychology. Topics include employee selection, performance & training evaluation, group dynamics, employee motivation & commitment, employee selection, leadership, organizational culture & development, and stress management. I. PRE-REQUISITES/CO-REQUISITES: a. Pre-requisite(s): Research Methods (SSCI 370) AND Social Psychology (PSYC 340) OR Personality and Individual Differences (PSYC 308) with a C or better; 30 earned credit hours; OR Permission of Instructor b. Co-requisite(s): none J. GOALS (STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES): By the end of this course, the student will be able to: Course Objective Institutional SLO A. Describe the brief history of I/O psychology B. Explain, compare, and evaluate a variety of research methods used in I/O psychology. C. Demonstrate an understanding of I/O Psychology through written and oral means in one (or more) the following areas: a. Selection b. Evaluation c. Group dynamics d. Leadership e. Motivation D. Apply one of the areas of I/O Psychology (see item C) to a project/paper in which a thorough understanding of the content in demonstrated. E. Critically analyze, interpret, and evaluate research findings relevant to I/O Psychology. Identify logical and illogical arguments, recognize bias and presumption in statements, and evaluate valid use of evidence. 4. Inter/Intrapersonal skills
