Around the WDR and RTL Deutschland, numerous production companies are based which are responsible for one third of the entire German TV programme. It is thus only logical that Cologne has developed into the venue of many important festivals and presentations of prize-giving ceremonies associated with the theme of television. Public service giant WDR The WDR is the largest public service broadcasting corporation in Continent Europe, and one of the most important employers in Germany for journalists, authors, artists and other creatives. The TV stations resident in Cologne have long since reacted with media libraries and livestreams. RTL, for example, with the video-on-demand platform RTL Now, for which there is also an app. But that is not all. The Internet TV channel Bunch TV is part of the Cologne com pany Paperboy Productions and concentrates on lifestyle themes, music, cinema, games, travel and funsport. Christopher Krachten s Internet talkshow Clixoom has over 200,000 subscribers, his interviews have already been viewed more than 70 million times on YouTube. Although as managing director of momento media, Krachten also offers classic TV productions, he describes online video as the communication platform of the future. Clipfish is Germany s second largest video portal and part of the Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland. The Grosses Fernsehen festival organised by the Landesanstalt für Medien Nordrhein-Westfalen presents outstanding national and international television productions as German pre-premieres in the multiplex Cinedom.
