Get out and meet people. There will be activities planned for summer, so check the bulletin boards and Board minutes. Jim Peltier Women's Club The ladies met on April 2nd and we had a good meeting. The Clubhouse had a festive look, thanks to hostesses Elizabeth DeMers, Doris Grandy, Sandy Kendall and Leona Shearer.
The Yarn Hookers had tickets for sale for a beautiful afghan. It was won by someone in Blue Jay. It is nice to see that we have a very good relationship with our neighbors. Shirley Rouer is the new Chairperson of the Charity Committee, assisted by Mary Bolin. I went to a meeting of the Committee and those ladies have lots of ideas to help people in the community. Bravo to all of you. There is a committee for the troops; they are working on sending parcels to those soldiers submitted, using the funds that we made from the Follies. Thanks again, ladies, for your support. Together we can do a lot of good and make a difference in this world. See you on May 7 at 9:30am. Marielle P. Quain President of the Women's Club Women's Club Charitv Committee We will be placing a box in the Clubhouse with a list of items that will be donated to the Sunrise Domestic Abuse Center of Pasco County. Anyone who cares to make a contribution, it would be greatly appreciated. The following list is some of the items they can use. If you donate clothing, it should be gently used and clean. 1. Pajamas - all sizes for women and children 2. Underwear - all sizes 3. Ladies bras - all sizes 4. Linens 5. Towels and wash clothes 6. Robes New and unopened items: 1. Baby diapers - all sizes 2. Hair brushes 3. Toilet paper 4. Stationery, pens, stamps 5. Perfume or cologne
6. Hair dye -- brunette, blonde, red 7. Fingernail polish and remover, emery boards and nail clippers Thank you for any help you can provide! Shirley Rouer, Chairperson and Mary Bolin, Co-Chairperson Shuffleboard Tournament The Shufneboard Tournament held Thursday, April 3rd, was enjoyed by all. Once again we lucked out with the weather!! There were 32 shufflers who participated, as this year, the teams were limited to 16, and it proved to work out really well. Jim Browne's Citrus Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge sponsored the tournament and the winning team members each received a beautiful trophy. The winning teams are as follows: 1" - Aggie Mitchell and Frank Armstrong 2nd -- Sue Martin and Les Myers 3& - Jean Hoops and Jim Peltier A BIG THANK YOU to our sponsor, the participants, the committee and all who helped with food and setup. Thanks, Aggie Thank You Thank you so much to all my Southfork friends and neighbors for being so kind and generous by bringing to my home many food dishes and a meat tray, rolls cakes, etc. in our time of deep sorrow. My family and I are very touched by your thoughtfulness. Connie Petrock Get Well wishes to Irene Schreier Les Myers Jim Freund Tom Geyer New Resident Robert and Karen Anderson Bronco Dr.
Yarn Hookers The winner of the "Mother's Day" afghan rafne was Mariann Greiner fiom Blue Jay community and her name was drawn on Thursday April lorn. Congratulations! This is just a special note to all the snowbirds and local residents, (We will be looking for donated crochet or knitted items for the Fall Bazaar in November.) Please contact if you have any items for pickup. Because of the written article about our donated afghan to East Pasco Habitat Community in Dade City, we received a donation of yam from a resident in Blue Jay and then another person fiom Blanton, F1 ask if she could join our group on Thursday evenings which now she is a regular. If anyone would like to crochet or knit any baby hats, blankets or booties, I found out that the Dade City hospital are in need of these items for some of the newborns. I was told that a lot of new mothers do not bring these items with them so before a baby is released they dress the baby with a hat and blanket. I have a contact name if anyone would like it. I was also told that Hospice on Clinton Ave. is in need of lap blankets and shawls for the residents. So if anyone has any questions please give Phyllis Grossi a call at Our group meets on Thursday evenings at 6:30pm at the club house. Come join us for a relaxing evening
Sympathy is extended to Richard Unger brother passed away Norman Spence sister passed away Norman Wilson resident passed away Frank Petrock resident passed away Glen Klepfer former resident, % of Dixie Klepfer 2800 W. Memorial Dr., Lot #I85 Muncie, IN (765) Phone number chan~e Larry and Carol Logan (269) Netta's News May has arrived and you can already notice the roads are clearing of all the northern residents leaving for their summer retreat. Even here at Southfork, a few have already packed up and left. It's starting to get warmer and the pool is getting more use. The water is perfect. May also includes Mother's Day on May 11" and Memorial Day on May 26". Most of us here have lost our mothers but they will be in our hearts forever. A world of thanks - a world of love - is what mothers are so desewing of. Congratulations o out to Georgia and Don Duarte on E celebrating their 50 wedding anniversary recently. Also to Bella and Me1 Kinney for their 25". They celebrated their anniversary at the Clubhouse on Bingo night. Bella came in with a bridal veil, wreaths on her head, and Me1 came with a sun visor that said "25 years'' on it. Memorial Day ends out the month of May, a special day to remember all branches of the service who have protected our great country. There are many men right here at Southfork who have sewed our country and many of us have family and friends who are sewing now. A special prayer to all of them. Don't forget to hang your flag out. "A Tale of Two Toilets'' (no pun intended) Two toilets set out at the curb got the best of Sam Tirrato
(maybe it tickled his funny bone). Anyway, he called Pat Grossi to grab a camera. They thought they'd sit on the toilets and have their picture taken for the newsletter. By the time Pat got up there, Andy had already taken one away and was loading the other one on the golf cart. Just picturing that can give you a good laugh. Are you a golfer? A recent study found the average American golfer walks 900 miles a year. Another study found American golfers drink an average of 22 gallons of alcohol a year. That means, on average, American golfers get about 41 miles to the gallon!! Well, it's time to close this out until next month which will be the last newsletter until September. Happy Birthday and Happy Anniversary to anyone who is celebrating this month. Netta From Norm's Desk Well, the time has come to once again bid goodby& our snowbirds. We are surely blessed by their presence during The winter months. We have been once again having a problem with some people flushing cloth or cloth-like wipes, under garments and cleaning supplies down the toilets. PLEASE! Remind any guests or visitors that we are on a sewage disposal system that incorporates pumpdo pump waste through. The sewage plant... these pumps are very expensive and the cost of maintenance is very high. DO NOT FLUSH ANY ITEM OTHER THAN TOILET PAPER DOWN YOUR TOILETS, NOT EVEN TOILET WIPES OR CLEANERS. Also, I am having a problem with people parking on the grass. Please re-read rule #3 where it clearly states "No parking on lawns." Thanks you for your attention to these infractions. Please do not waste water and abide by the Pasco County watering schedule for lawns. Norm
