1 RIDGE VALLEY SCHOOL The Ridgeian December 2016 Christmas Carnival From the foggy winter morning to the mild sun slowly but with a determined intent spread warmth and brought cheer to the RVS Christmas carnival. Families and friends came together to absorb the winter cheer. Children put up creative stalls and colours red and white were found visibly smearing the picturesque background with balloons, buntings and decorations garnering a rich Christmassy rush from all corners of the School s natural preserve. By mid-day, excited chatter and exhilaration echoed the skies with children and parents trying their hand and luck at a variety of unusual games on offer. Inside this issue: Events 1 Tiny Tots Corner 7 Literacy Corner 11 Numeracy Corner 16 UOW Corner 19 While the Art corner painted new thoughts into the minds with extraordinary bottle artwork reiterating reuse and recycle concept, quite a lot made a beeline to the hair braiding and face painting stall. It was a unique experience for the children to witness their parents become children again, trying to throw googly or score a goal with something for everyone. Crowd was pulled in all direction with excitingly confused desires to visit all counters like Rustic fashion, Indoor planting, and Carnival Rides. But the most enchanting sight was the one captured when the age of selfies, for a day, joyfully regressed back to the traditional ways with an innovative cycle sleigh becoming an artful photo booth. Traditional ways also held true with Santa soon arriving to greet the crackling young ones, with his gift galore in the magical red sachet. Not to anyone s disappointment, the sweet chill in the air was dancing with mesmerising aroma from the assortment of delicious spicy, sweet, sour and cheesy fiesta with a hint of meaty surprises bringing something from around the world to a platter at the palm of your hand. With heartbeats racing and tummies rumbling, feet too were tapping to the melodious decibels reverberating from the music and dance corner. Adding to this was the main event of the day, a ramp walk with sparkling fashion trends by the youngest members of Ridge Valley. In the end, Christmas is not complete without the gift of sharing practiced in its true spirit. And so to imbibe in our children this valuable virtue, each ones was encouraged to be the Secret Santa and amass as many gifts under the Ridge Valley Christmas tree, to have them presented to those who are less fortunate in the cold winters. The RVS Christmas Carnival 2016 was one that will remain in our thoughts frozen in time like a faded photograph, capturing in it, the joy and spirit Ridge Valley Family shares, in one voice, every year.

Dr. Dhingra dons many caps and is associated with many welfare organizations researching children s well-being. She also, enjoys gardening and plays the Indian drums. For her treating a child is not just limited to the concern at hand. It goes much further. She says, "I see young patients as people in the context of the family unit and society at large. I consider the physician-parent-child relationship as a partnership toward the goal of achieving the best healthy state for the child." The one hour session saw the Ridgeans marvel at her simple techniques to become mindful and have a productive day. The benefits of deep breathing and focusing on the moment, had them agape! For students the right balance between fun and studies is quintessential and Dr. Dhingra opened pathways to the same by introducing the idea of making your breath, your friend.
