3 What is GoArmyEd? GoArmyEd is the Army s virtual gateway for Soldiers to request Tuition Assistance (TA) online, anytime, for classroom and distance-learning college courses. Currently, nearly 350,000 Active Duty and Army Reserve Soldiers have accounts in GoArmyEd. More than 1.7 million classes have been completed since GoArmyEd launched in More than 2,300 regionally and nationally accredited schools participate in GoArmyEd. In June 2011, the Army National Guard will join GoArmyEd, realizing the Army s vision for an enterprise system serving all three Army components. 3

4 GoArmyEd Key Functionality GoArmyEd offers many self-service functions. For example, you can: Request TA and register for classes 24 hours a day, seven days a week Drop or withdraw from classes View historical data transitioned to GoArmyEd from National Guard Federal TA (FTA) system Access an online version of your Student Record to view historical grades, enrollments, and other Army student information Track degree requirements Submit a Common Application for admission to your school Get helpdesk support via online ticket submission or telephone The transition to GoArmyEd will not change Army education policies or impact the tuition benefits you are eligible to request. 4

5 Key Transition Dates What are the key dates you should be aware of? 6 June 2011 You can begin setting up your account in GoArmyEd. You will be restricted from requesting TA in GoArmyEd until 1 August August 2011 You can begin requesting TA in GoArmyEd for courses that start on or after 1 October Use the current FTA system (imarc) to request courses that start prior to 1 October October 2011 All ARNG Soldiers and Army Education personnel can begin using GoArmyEd to manage TA for courses that start on or after 1 October

6 Next Steps On or after 6 June 2011 you can go to the GoArmyEd Web site at and select the New User option to create a GoArmyEd account. Are you new to the military or have you not requested TA in a while? All eligible National Guard Soldiers will be able create a new account on or after 6 June Soldiers will be presented with a streamlined registration process that will verify military information and provide you with some basic functionality, like accessing training or reviewing your education record. If you plan to request TA for classes, you will be able to click the Request TA Access button and will be presented with an series of steps that will collect academic history, allow you to complete a college admission form and more. Once you complete the required steps, a counselor will review and approve your GoArmyEd TA account request. Are you a current student? If you took a class using the National Guard s FTA system anytime since 2006, you will receive an via your Army Knowledge Online (AKO) account encouraging you to create a GoArmyEd account. Once you click the New User link in GoArmyEd, you will be presented with a Fast Track registration process that will collect the same information described above, but will not require counselor approval given your enrollment activity with the Guard. 6

7 Next Steps Continued.. When you create your new account in GoArmyEd, you will be presented with video training on how to request TA so that you will be prepared when the enrollment window opens on 1 August 2011 for any classes starting on or after 1 October In addition, you will also have access to an abundance of training materials in the portal, as well as access to the GoArmyEd Helpdesk to ensure you are comfortable with the information and the functionality available to you as a GoArmyEd account holder. 7
