1 SUBJECT: MANUFACTURING PROCESSES II CÓDE: IP0247 EFFECTIVE FROM: TIMES A WEEK: 80 HOURS BY SEMESTER METHOD UNION COURSE CHARACTERISTICS LECTURE INTEGRATED WITH LAB PREREQUISITES MANUFACTURING PROCESSES I (IP242) CO-REQUISITES NONE CREDITS: 5 DATE UPDATE: JANUARY 204 COURSE JUSTIFICATION The production engineer must be able to manage a project or a production process in the manufacturing sector. The focus of this subject is the productive chains (deformation processes of metallic materials and design of tooling that allow this transformation); in addition to these it looks for the optimization of the resources which will bring economic benefits to the company. The course also presents a generalized view of the main productive chains which supports the metalworking sector. This is done through presentations by students, from direct experiences in the selected industries. This way will expand the knowledge of the future engineer by correlating the various thematic areas around manufacturing. So, the engineer will have enough experience to confront a real situation at the end of the course. GENERAL OBJECTIVE OF THE COURSE Select the most appropriate process in deformation of materials and tooling manufacturing in the engineering field (based on criteria of cost, time, materials, application, etc.). Also, know other important areas of manufacturing and its connection with metalworking. SPECIFIC OBJECTIVE OF THE COURSE Identify and implement processes of joining (welded joint) in industrial and repair products with quality and economics criteria and engineering of materials. To make wise decisions in the specific case of manufacturing
2 Gain knowledge of massive forming processes, which enable it to evaluate a production system and make wise decisions in the selection of equipment and the type most appropriate tool for various manufacturing alternatives Acquire a level of knowledge of cutting process and foil stamping, which enables the student to make wise decisions about the selection of the type / variant of the process and the most appropriate type of die for diverse manufacturing alternatives. Identify non- conventional processes and its application in the generation of industrial processes, enabling it to make positive decisions in the selection and implementation in a specific case of manufacturing Share experiences from industrial visits, to identify other different supply chains from the engineering sector, which enables the student to make decisions in an area of interest in the field of manufacturing.
