3 Speaker Biographies Cynthia Roe Purvis, ROE Ergo R&D Cynthia Roe Purvis is a nationally recognized ergonomics expert, award-winning author and recipient of several U.S. patents. She is passionate about her work as Director of Hewlett Packard s Ergonomics R&D design recommendations that aim to address these startling levels of discomfort among computer users. Cynthia co-authored the award-winning Safety & Comfort Guide (hp.com/ergo) distributed worldwide with HP computers. Gavin Gardi, LEED AP, G2 Consulting Inc. Gardi has a wealth of both theoretical and practical knowledge in sustainable construction with over Christman Company he provided leadership for Christman s Project Planning Group in the areas of life cycle costing and construction of sustainable, high-performance buildings, and was an integral part - Dana Pillai, Executive Director, Delos Labs Dana leads Delos Labs, the research and development arm of Delos Living. Some of the products developed at the labs are the Well Building Standard and the Stay Well hotel room program. 4 Speaker Biographies Todd Scott, Michigan Trails & Greenway Alliance Todd Scott is the Detroit Greenways Coordinator for the Michigan Trails and Greenways Alliance (MTGA). His role is to coordinate, assist, and advocate for biking and walking trails throughout Detroit, Hamtramck, and Highland Park. Todd has been involved in trail advocacy for over 18 years. He is the former executive director for the Michigan Mountain Biking Association and currently serves on the Citizen s Committee for Michigan State Parks. Todd is also an advocate for making Oakland County more bike friendly, through Dr. Mouhanad Hammami, Wayne County Health Dept. Dr. Hammami completed his graduation at Aleppo University, Syria and postdoctoral research in Pediatrics at the Newborn Center of the University of Tennessee in Memphis. He was awarded the Outstanding Achievement Award by Wayne County Department of Health in He currently serves as the Chief of Health Operations of Wayne County Department of Health and Human Services and County County in the Nation. Ray Sharp, Western Upper Peninsula Health Dept. Ray Sharp is the Manager of Community Planning and Preparedness at Western U.P. Health Department, is not an architect or urban planner but he works with architects, engineers and transportation planners on designs to promote healthy physical activity. In Michigan, he has worked as a journalist, a program planner and grant writer for an early childhood education agency, and for the last 14 years, as a local public health data analyst and project manager. Lisa Stefanovsky, Ottawa County Health Department ment. Lisa began her public health career over 25 years ago working for the American Red Cross cently she served on the Michigan Public Health Code Advisory Committee and Michigan Public Health Institute Board of Directors and is the President Elect of the Michigan Association for Local Public Health. Joyce Lee, FAIA, LEEP AP Joyce is the president of IndigoJLD with a focus on green health in her practice. She has been an Archi- professionals in New York City where she served under Mayors Giuliani and Bloomberg. She was the Chief Architect at the New York City OMB overseeing the survey of major public buildings and waterfronts with the goals of enhancing long-term planning, design excellence, and identifying opportunities in green development. The health and well-being LEED pilot credits she co-authored was approved by the US Green Building Council in Joyce is the recipient of numerous awards including a project platinum award from the American Council of Engineering Companies, the publication award from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Public Architect award from the American Institute of Architects New York. Tamara Burns, AIA, LEED AP Tamara Burns is the Co-founder and Principal of HopkinsBurns Studio in Ann Arbor which specializes in the preservation, restoration and adaptive reuse of existing buildings and in the design of new places in downtown neighborhoods that are context sensitive and respectful of heritage. As Principal, she ensures the delivery of innovative, sensitive, sustainable and timely design solutions and that new places are sensitively woven into the context of communities. She is also involved with the American Institute of Architects at a regional and state level and served as President of in 2013.
