Class schedules and fees are subject to change. MAE reserves the right to cancel any class that does not meet minimum enrollment standards. General Information and Policies Who may enroll Classes are open to all adults. Residents of other districts are welcome. There are no additional tuition fees for out-of-district students. In accordance with Title 9, all classes are open to men and women on an equal basis. Classes are designed for students age 18 and over. Martinez Adult Education classes are open to anyone without regard to race, color, religion, gender, national origin, physical disability, political affiliation or belief. Fees Community Education Classes are supported solely by student fees. Classes may have additional lab fees. Refunds Full refund, less $10 processing fee, if requested 2 working days (Monday through Friday) prior to beginning of course. Full refund if class is canceled by MAE. No refunds after class has begun.to drop or reschedule an 8-hour or one-day class, MAE must be notified 2 working days (Monday through Friday) prior to start of class. Students may reschedule a class only one time with a $10 processing fee. No rescheduling of TVS classes once enrolled. Children Children are not permitted in any MAE class except where they are a part of the class setting. Visitors Visitors must obtain a pass in the MAE office. There is a refundable $1.00 fee. Prerequisite: Accounting I and computer file management. 6-week course Intermediate QuickBooks Pro Continues the study of computerized accounting in managing the accounting cycle, using classes, dealing with physical inventory, payroll, estimates and progress invoicing budgeting, adjusting entries, and closing the books. Prerequisite: Beginning QuickBooks. Mastering Payroll This course will teach you all facets of payroll, from the basics to the complexity of fringe benefits, taxation, and garnishments. If you re new to the field, you ll acquire solid skills and knowledge of payroll rules and regulations. 0 Managerial Accounting Managers make numerous decisions during the day-to-day operations of a business and in planning for the future. Managerial accounting provides much of the information used for these decisions including cost analysis, budgeting, long-term investments, and just-in-time planning concepts. Prerequisite: Accounting Technician Program Certificate. Financial Reporting Students will analyze financial reports from actual companies from both a user s and preparer s perspective. Prerequisite: Accounting I and II. 2 Career Technical Education Microsoft Office 2013 Tax Reporting Learn concepts and applications of tax reporting for personal and corporate taxation. This course uses actual IRS forms and publications; no additional textbooks required. BOOKKEEPING CERTIFICATION Becoming a Certified Bookkeeper will increase your earning potential, enhance your professional status, and improve your prospects in the current job market. These courses will help you prepare for the American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers (AIPB) certification exam. The AIPB certification is the only national standard for bookkeepers. Accounting Specialist Program Certificate This certificate program provides the graduating student the skills to obtain employment as a General Accounting Clerk, AP/AR Clerk, Payroll Clerk, or Bookkeeper.
