1 Bid Now and Buy Now User Guide 26 th IS SUE Octo D ber ED IS SU r2 tobe 26 th Oc A guide to Bid Now and Buy Now on the BCA website This guide explains how to view, bid for and buy vehicles in the new Bid Now and Buy Now sales, as well as explaining the new vehicle appraisal and condition report. This guide is designed to accompany the existing BCA Website User Guide which details how to search, track and print vehicles on the website. Still got questions? 2 Signing on to the website to view Bid Now and Buy Now vehicles You need an existing BCA Live Online user ID and password to be able to Bid on, or Buy the stock. Bid Now and Buy Now are available to all BCA cheque account cardholders and Black, Platinum and Gold MyBCA cardholders. Step 1 Already a Live Online buyer? Enter your existing Live Online user ID and password into the sign-on page. Your Live Online user ID is the key that allows you to Bid and Buy. All trade users of Auction View will be able to see Bid Now and Buy Now Stock, however in order to Bid or Buy you will need an existing Live Online user ID and password. 02 Step 2 Apply to buy online: If you don t already have a Live Online login and choose to buy Bid Now or Buy Now you will be presented with the following screen. Please follow the 3 simple steps. Stock in Bid Now and Buy Now sales only displays on the website when these sales are live 03

3 Searching for Bid Now and Buy Now vehicles You can search for vehicles in 2 simple ways: using the quick links on the homepage; or by using the vehicle search tool in the normal way Using the Quick Links on the homepage Simply click on the View Lots beside either the Bid Now or Buy Now banners in the middle of the homepage. This will take you directly to a listing of all vehicles available for either Bid Now or Buy Now purchase. The default presentation of the vehicle listing will be by make / model. To change this view simply use the options at the top of the listing. Filter the results fast by using the Quick search free text above the listings, e.g. Golf 04 Using the normal vehicle search tools Click on either the Channel or dropdown box, select either Bid Now or Buy Now, or both then press Enter on your keyboard The results list appears that matches your vehicle search You can now search vehicles by condition grade by selecting the Vehicle Grade dropdown box. 05

4 To further refine or narrow your search from the available Bid Now or Buy Now vehicle listing, click on any of the vehicle search criteria dropdown boxes. The available choices in any of these menus will reflect the vehicle stock in either Bid Now or Buy Now. For example, if no Fiat vehicles are available then Fiat will not be one of the choices Click on the Save this search button to save your search for future use, and My searches to recover a previously saved search You can automatically search then filter either Bid Now or Buy Now stock, by brand, location, fuel type and more. Simply type your criteria (e.g. Audi) into the Quick search but do not press the Enter key or click on the search icon. Then click on Channel, select Bid Now or Buy Now then press Enter or click Apply. The results list will then reflect both Audi and your channel choice The Quick search can be used in the same way in conjunction with any of the search criteria dropdown boxes To see vehicles on sale now - select today s date from the date of sale drop down 06 Finding Bid Now and Buy Now catalogues You can search for Bid Now or Buy Now sale catalogues in the normal way by clicking on Sale catalogues in the navigation bar. Click on either the Sale channel or Sale type dropdown menus, then select either Bid Now or Buy Now and press Enter or click Apply. Every Bid Now or Buy Now vehicle is located at a BCA centre, so the list of auction centres appears that matches your criteria. Click on any of the available auction centres to expand and view vehicles, for example Bid Now vehicles available for online purchase where the vehicles are stored at Measham. Click on the Save this search button to save your search for future use, and My searches to recover a previously saved search. 07

5 The vehicle appraisal and condition report To coincide with the launch of Bid Now and Buy Now sales, we have also implemented an all-new vehicle appraisal and condition report, viewable on the BCA website. Within the Lot detail information it will also display the MOT expiry date and number of owners, where this information is available. To view the report for a vehicle, click on the Condition report link on the Lot detail page. The new appraisal report provides: A minimum of 3 exterior and beauty images for cars, and 7 such images for light commercial vehicles. Kipper view diagram of the vehicle exterior and interior, showing the location of any appraised damage or flaws Explanation of any damage shown on the diagram Images of any noted damage 08 All vehicles offered in Bid Now or Buy Now sales will have the new comprehensive vehicle appraisal and condition report, so that you can buy online with confidence. In time every single vehicle on the BCA website will feature the new appraisal, but in the interim period of a few weeks some vehicles will still feature the previous appraisal as these vehicles were inspected before the new appraisal report was implemented. 09

6 Bidding and buying in Bid Now auctions Bidding on vehicles is easy and intuitive. Step 1 View the Lot Detail page for the vehicle on which you wish to bid. The Bid Now panel at the right of the page will show the Current or starting bid and whether the vehicle reserve price has been met. At this stage you can also click on the View Bid History link to see what activity may have already occurred on this vehicle. Step 2 (a) You can either place bids manually by using the control in the bidding panel to advance the price to the next bid increment (the increments will vary depending on the value of the vehicle) and click on the Place bid button; 10 or; Step 2 (b) If your proxy bid is above the reserve price, the bidding will automatically raise your bid to the reserve. The system will then automatically bid in increments on your behalf if anyone bids against you up to your proxy bid maximum. If your proxy bid is below the reserve it will automatically bid the starting price or the current bid plus the next bid increment. Please note: After you click on Place bid, you will be asked to confirm your bid by clicking on the OK button which appears. 11

7 Step 3 After you place your bid the bidding panel will update to show the status of your bid, and whether the reserve has been reached. However you should regularly refresh your bidding screen to get the latest status which takes into account any competitive bidding. To do this simply click on the Refresh button in the bidding panel. Commencing 2 hours before the sale finishes an automatic screen refresh will start, becoming more frequent towards the end of the sale. Your bidding screen will automatically refresh so you can see the bidding against you. As the bidding nears the reserve price the text underneath the current bid will display Approaching Reserve 12 Step 4 When the reserve price of the vehicle has been reached, this will show in the bidding panel by displaying Reserve met in green. You should regularly refresh your screen so you see the latest status of the reserve price which takes into account any competitive bids that may have been placed after your last bid. Step 5 Once the vehicle reserve price has been reached and the sale time expires (6pm on weekday sales), if you have successfully purchased the vehicle you will receive an confirmation within minutes of the sale concluding. Please note: Some vehicles offered in Bid Now auctions may also have a Buy Now price displayed, allowing you to purchase the vehicle immediately at the displayed fixed price. Buying stock with Buy Now is explained on the following page. 13

8 Purchasing in Buy Now sales For when you need to buy vehicles instantly. Step 1 View the Lot Detail page for the vehicle you are interested in. The Buy Now panel at the right of the page will show the price at which the vehicle can be purchased immediately. CAP and Glass values as well as auction composite prices can be easily checked and Buy Now prices compared by clicking on the Guide pricing tab below the vehicle images. 14 Step 2 To buy the vehicle at the fixed price click on the green Buy Now button, at which stage you will be asked to confirm your purchase by clicking on the OK button. Once you have confirmed your purchase, the vehicle is automatically removed from the sale and you are sent an confirmation of your successful purchase. Please note: Some vehicles in Buy Now sales may also be offered with a Bid Now option, which allows you place bids rather than opt for a fixed price purchase. Placing bids is explained in the previous pages. 15

9 Managing your bidding activity with My Account The My Account tool is your handy dashboard to monitor the status of your bids, especially if you are bidding on several vehicles. Step 1 To easily see the status of your bidding and whether you currently hold the winning/highest bid, simply click on the My Account link located at the top of every page. Step 3 To return to any vehicle in your list so that you can place another bid, click on the View Lot button. Step 2 Then select the My Active Bids link beneath My Vehicles and Account. The status of your active bidding activity is displayed. Should you have this page open for a few minutes, you can refresh the information to get the very latest status by clicking on the Refresh button, which updates all vehicles on the page. 16 Commencing 2 hours before the sale finishes an automatic screen refresh will start, becoming more frequent towards the end of the sale. 10 Managing your purchases with My Account View your successful purchases and make post-sale arrangements with My Account. Step 1 To view your successful purchases, simply click on the My Account link located at the top of every page. Step 2 Then select the My Purchases link beneath My Vehicles and Account. Details of your successful purchases are displayed. 18 Step 3 You can specify the transport/delivery of your new vehicle(s), whether you wish BCA to deliver or make other arrangements. Simply click and select from the options box to the right of each vehicle, then select the Confirm button. The BCA auction centre holding the vehicle will then be in contact the following weekday morning to reconfirm your requested arrangements. 19

11 Viewing your lost bids with My Account To view your lost bids, simply click on the My Account link then select the Lost Bids link beneath My Vehicles and Account. Details of your lost bids are displayed, showing your last bid against the sold price or showing the vehicle as not sold if reserve was not met. The default presentation of your lost bids will show bids within the last week. To change this view simply use the options at the top of the listing using the dropdown box. 20 Customer Services:
