1 COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY Basic Computer Skills Computer Essentials Microsoft Office Level Designed for the adult student with little or no computer experience, this class teaches elementary concepts including basic navigation, the fundamentals of word processing, Internet browsing and basics. Students will compare and contrast the web browsers Microsoft Explorer 9, Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome. Differences between the Windows 7 and Windows 8 operating systems will also be discussed. Supervised lab time will help students apply their new skills to a project of their choice. A textbook is included in the cost of the class. Computer Essentials Microsoft Office Level This class builds on the elementary concepts taught in Level 1, and introduces the Microsoft Office 2013 Suite. This group of software applications includes Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint, which are commonly used in both home and business settings. Students will practice creating documents, resumes, budget spreadsheets, databases and slide presentations in a step-by-step, hands-on learning environment. A textbook is included in the cost of this class. Graphic & Web Design Small Business Website Series - Class 1: Learn to Design a Free Website for Your Small Business It s never been simpler to create a website for free, regardless of your technical skill level. In this 6-hour class you will browse Web.com s professional templates, use their easy drag-and-drop interface, and learn to use the tools needed to get your small business website up and running! We ll cover the basics of marketing and graphic design to help you understand how content and appearance can impact your customers, including learning to import photos and using your site to promote your business. Pre-requisite: An active account, along with associated user name and password. Small Business Website Series Class 2: Using Webs.com to Enhance Your Small Business Website After learning how to design your small business website in Class 1, join this class to learn how to boost your Webs.com site to the next level. We ll cover more about custom domain names, help you set up an online store and use Paypal, and show you how to link your Facebook business page (you do have one, right?) to your new Webs.com website. Finally, add a live photo gallery to showcase your products or services and learn to use the Webs.com analytics to track site visits and determine best marketing practices. Pre-requisites: 1. A Webs.com site and Class 1 of this series, 2. An active account, 3. A Paypal account, 4. A Facebook business page, 5. Associated user names and passwords for these accounts, 6. Your credit card if you wish to purchase a unique domain. Software Applications Getting to Know Microsoft Word 2013 Just when you got comfortable with Word 2010 hello, Word 2013! This class is for users of Microsoft

2 Word who want to take full advantage of Word 2013 features and learn some neat hints, shortcuts and tips. We will discover and practice use of keyboard shortcuts, option settings, pinning recent files, mail merge and split window views. Underutilized features like ribbon, watermarks, header/footer, quick zoom, protect files, print and spell check options will also be introduced and discussed. Getting to Know Microsoft Excel 2013 Ok, spreadsheet users, take the leap from Excel 2010 into Excel 2013! Participants should be Microsoft Excel users interested in taking advantage of new features and learning some helpful hints, shortcuts and tips. We will practice using keyboard shortcuts, pinning recent files, and using split window views. Underutilized features like grouping, text to columns, removing duplicates, showing formulas, tracing precedents or dependents and protecting files will also be introduced and discussed. Microsoft Word 2013: Using Document Formatting Tools This 2-hour class demonstrates the use of formatting tools available in Word such as graphics, headers, columns, text box, styles, margins, and borders. Students will choose to create a newsletter, a brochure, a memo or a press release using and practicing these features. Previous experience with Word is necessary. Microsoft Word 2013 Fast-Paced - Level 1 This 6-hour class is designed for those with little or no experience using Microsoft Word, or for current Word users who want an introduction to the 2013 version of Word. Beginning-level skills will be taught and practiced, including use of the Ribbon interface, working with and editing text, printing, using proofreading tools, creating bulleted and numbered lists, and making tables and forms. An illustrated textbook is included in the cost of the class. Microsoft Word 2013 Fast-Paced - Level 2 This intermediate level class requires previous experience with the basics of Microsoft Word Students will learn more complex skills that include creating newsletter columns, using WordArt and clip art, and choosing document themes and styles. The class also covers formatting and editing tools for academic writing, picture editing, and the mail merge function. An illustrated textbook is included in the cost of the class. Microsoft Word 2013 Fast-Paced - Level 3 This advanced-level class will challenge experienced users of Microsoft Word 2013 who are proficient with document creation and manipulation. Students will learn additional features such as tracking changes, creating macros, using digital signatures, and customization. A skills integration lesson concludes the class. Microsoft Word 2013 Webinar - Mail Merge This 1-hour webinar will focus specifically on using the mail merge function to create addressed letters, envelopes and/or labels from data in an Excel spreadsheet. For users with basic Word and Excel skills. 05/05/14 Microsoft Excel 2013 Fast-Paced - Level 1 This 6-hour class is designed for those with little or no experience using Microsoft Excel, or for current Excel users who want an introduction to the 2013 version of Excel. Beginning-level skills will be taught

3 and practiced, including use of the Ribbon interface, entering and editing data, inserting and deleting columns, rows, and cells, selecting cells and ranges, and formatting cells. An introduction to creating charts, using formulas and printing worksheets is also included. An illustrated textbook is included in the cost of the class. Microsoft Excel 2013 Fast-Paced - Level 2 This intermediate-level class introduces more features of Microsoft Excel 2013, building on Level 1. Students will learn to create large worksheets and workbooks, tables, outlines and templates. They will also practice inserting clip art, pictures, SmartArt and digital signatures. An illustrated textbook is included in the cost of the class. Microsoft Excel 2013 Fast-Paced - Level 3 This advanced-level class teaches those with previous Microsoft Excel experience the use of pivot tables and macros, financial functions, data analysis, auditing and additional functions. Students will also practice advanced formatting and analysis tools, collaboration, and more. A skills integration lesson concludes the class. Microsoft Excel A Focus on Formulas This 2 ½ - hour class will dive into spreadsheet formulas how they work, how to create them, and ways to put them to good use. If you recognize some of these functions - SUM, VLOOKUP, IFERROR, COUNT, AVERAGE, MIN - but aren t sure what they mean, join us to learn the power of these, plus nesting formulas, text formulas, basic arithmetic expressions and more. Previous Excel experience is required. 05/05/14 Microsoft Excel 2013 Webinar - Pivot Tables This 1-hour webinar is focused specifically on creating basic pivot tables manually and using the recommended Pivot Table button. Use of the auto-filter and slicers to modify/filter tables will be demonstrated, and students will also learn how to create a Pivot Chart from a Pivot Table. Previous Excel experience is required. 05/05/14 Microsoft Excel 2013 Webinar - Financial Formulas This 1-hour webinar will help students understand and create financial formulas such as calculating PMT (payment function) and FV (future value) on a loan. Previous Excel experience is required. 05/05/14 Microsoft Excel 2013 Webinar - Basic Functions This 1-hour webinar class will provide an overview of Excel functions, the different categories of functions and the required and optional components in creating a function. The class will highlight SUM, COUNT, IF, COUNTIF and other useful functions. Previous use of Microsoft Word is helpful. Microsoft Excel 2013: Data Analysis and Data Validation This 2-hour class is designed to highlight the data tools available in Excel including sorts, Goal Seek, Solver, Scenario Manager, validation and analysis tools. Previous Excel experience is required. Microsoft Excel 2013: Managing Multiple-Sheet Worksheets The focus of this 2-hour class is creating, editing and using multiple-sheet worksheets in Excel, including sorting, flexible views, linking cells and formulas, grouping and consolidating and 3D reference. Previous Excel experience is required.

4 Microsoft Excel 2013: Charts This 2-hour class delves into the chart functions available in Excel. It covers formatting, data-sourcing, modifying, selecting chart types, and moving, sizing, copying and printing of charts. Previous Excel experience is required. Microsoft Access 2013: An Introduction to Databases This 2-hour class is an excellent foundation for effective use of Access, starting with the definition, purpose and uses of a database. We ll explain the steps to building a new database or modifying an existing one while introducing Access objects such as tables, forms, deleting records, and using forms, queries, and reports. Basic computer literacy and experience with MS Word and/or Excel is required. Microsoft Access 2013 Fast-Paced - Level 1 This class is for Microsoft Office users who have little or no experience using Microsoft Access 2013, or for current Access users who want an introduction to the 2013 version of Access. Topics introduced in this 6-hour class include the Ribbon interface, creating tables in Datasheet view, previewing and printing data, designing databases, creating database objects, formatting tables, using lookup fields, field properties, queries, and more. An illustrated textbook is included in the cost of the class. Microsoft Access 2013 Fast-Paced - Level 2 This intermediate level class requires previous experience with Access 2013 and successful completion of the Access 2013 Level 1 class is strongly advised. Topics introduced in this 6-hour class include using split forms, designing a relational database, creating and modifying/customizing reports, doing parameter and crosstab queries and customizing input forms. An illustrated textbook is included in the cost of the class. Microsoft Access 2013 Fast-Paced - Level 3 This advanced level class will challenge experienced Access 2013 users who are proficient with database manipulation. Skills and concepts introduced in this 6-hour class include complex forms and reports, calculated controls, sub-reports, splitting databases, and customizing databases and the user interface. A skills integration lesson concludes the class. Microsoft PowerPoint 2013 Fast-Paced - Level 1 This class teaches the necessary skills to create and deliver a slide show presentation, and requires previous experience with Microsoft Office software. Students will be introduced to the new Ribbon interface, and learn to create effective, cohesive presentations using document themes, clip art and graphics. Insertion of charts, bulleted lists and outlines, plus the use of notes, slide transitions and print options are all addressed as well. An illustrated textbook is included in the cost of the class. Microsoft PowerPoint 2013 Fast-Paced - Level 2 This intermediate level class requires previous experience with Microsoft Office software and successful completion of the PowerPoint 2013 Level 1 class is strongly advised. Topics covered include choosing themes and building slide masters, adding multimedia and audio, inserting and customizing tables and creating hyperlinks. Creating speaker notes, printing presentations and enhancing presentation navigation are all addressed as well. An illustrated textbook is included in the cost of the class. Microsoft PowerPoint 2013: Working with the Slide Master The slide master view is a special feature in PowerPoint that allows you to quickly modify slides and slide

5 layouts in a presentation. During this 2-hour class, you will explore the use of layout masters, transitions and themes to build consistency into your slides and strengthen the impact of the message you are presenting.

The class will also teach students to create basic applications using Microsoft Windows Forms or WPF, create basic Internet applications that use Web Forms, MVC, or Web Services, create basic data driven applications, create basic components (DLL s), and create basic setup and deployment applications. SharePoint Team Site Best Practices This 4-hour class for current SharePoint users demonstrates best practices for team site development. With a practical focus, the class addresses set up of libraries and the benefits of versioning, retention limits, content types and templates, workflows, document sets, document check-out, alerts, and naming conventions. Participants will learn to manage information on their own team sites through lists and views in calendars and using columns and tags to quickly filter and sort data for reporting. They will also learn to connect contacts and other SharePoint functionalities to Office software. To ensure that participants make real progress on their team sites, they must have SharePoint Foundation 2010 or newer and administrative rights to a team site. LINUX Fundamentals This 35-hour class, for experienced computer users with limited or no exposure to LINUX, will teach the fundamental elements of this operating system that powers most of the world s computers. LINUX is everywhere - in many different hardware configurations, from mainframes to server to desktop to mobile and droids. This class explores the tools and techniques commonly used by LINUX system administrators and end users, and is applicable whether working in an individual or Enterprise environment. Successful completion of this training will equip students with a good working knowledge of LINUX from both a graphical and command line interface, and enable professional growth and progress as a user, system administrator or developer. LINUX/UNIX System Management Certificate

10 This 78-hour class is designed for professionals who wish to enhance their knowledge and skills related to system management and multitasking commands in LINUX and UNIX. It will focus on major differences between the standards and variances of these applications. Both theoretical material and hands-on labs will be used to demonstrate Linux/UNIX multitasking, system and user management, different UNIX shells, file and directory management, and network setup and optimization. Linux Security Administration This 35-hour, highly-technical class focuses on properly securing machines running the Linux operating systems. A broad range of general security techniques such as user/group policies and file integrity checking are covered. Advanced security technologies such as Kerberos, SELinux, and the hardening of popular applications such as Apache, databases, and systems are also addressed. Students who successfully complete this class will have an excellent understanding of potential security vulnerabilities, be able to audit existing machines and are prepared to implement best practices for secure deployment of new Linux servers.
