1 2015 Region 5 Conference Caucus Minutes 8/1/15 1) Welcome by Susan Lutz (Region 5 Representative). Susan then introduced Sam Albrecht, the Director of Membership and Programs at PATH Intl. Sam updated attendees on what the PATH association has been doing and upcoming goals. He announced the new How to Start a Center booklet, soon to be released. 2) Susan introduced the Region 5 Leadership Team including: State/Area Chairs Alabama Co-Chairs - Audrey Adamson and Sarah Maxwell Southern Florida - Kim Minarich Northern Florida - Melissa Yarbrough Georgia - Amy Tripson (as of mid-may) Mississippi Cassie Bronson (as of mid Feb.) Tennessee Chair - Jenna McNair Puerto Rico - Carlos Mendez Treasurer Amelia Emmert Region Conference Task Force Co-Chairs Melissa Searcy and Sarah English Region Communications Chair Robin Bramson as of end of February Region Rep. Susan Lutz 3) Review of the fiscal year (7/1/14 6/30/15) a. Focus on Center and Member Outreach and Support I. Region 5 Center Survey follow- ups done by state/area chairs to develop a plan for each state/area. II. Outreach via s III. Engaging in discussion on how to spend PATH allocations given to each area b. What did some areas do? Two State chairs spoke about what they did with the allocation funds. Audrey Adamson- Had a PATH Intl booth to represent EAA&T and the Alabama centers at both the Alabama Horse Fair and the Southeastern Livestock Exposition & Rodeo with a combined attendance of over 20,000 people Melissa Yarbrough Co-sponsored the Stirrups and Strides Florida Challenge Show - Over 10 centers and 100 riders competed and over 300 people in attendance. Florida also hosted a state meetings including educational opportunities and had 45 attendees. *** The Region 5 Member and Center Outreach and Support Report 7/1/14 6/30/15 is attached at the bottom of the minutes. c. Biggest problem has been Communication I. New Facebook group: PATH Intl Region 5 II. Why not PATH e-blasts for local info? PATH Intl is very mindful of not inundating its membership with e-blasts. Because of the importance of have local communication, Susan, the reg. rep, has asked each state/area chair to communicate with their local members using their own aps. III. All State/area s will have opt out abilities, to allow members to decline to receive local updates and information. d. Region 5 Summary of Income and Expenses*** see attachment following the minutes.

In Canton, GA Certified Professional Phantom from BEATS, Inc. in Canton, GA Equine Kim Light from Colby s Army in Fairview, TN Volunteer Dr. April Andrews from MANE in Pike Road, AL. Veterinarian 2015 PATH Intl. Award Winners: Yar Khan from Chastain Horse Park in Atlanta, GA. Adult Equestrian of the Year Josef Hudson from Calvin Center in Hampton, GA Independent Adult Equestrian of the Year 5) Standards Field Test Vote. First time with online vote **** Region 5 Had the most voters!!!! a. Kristen Sanders, the Director of Administration at STAR and on the Standards Committee, spoke about the new system of voting and the field test standards. 6) Addressed the new CEU guidelines and offered resources including the: a. Region 5 Tips for Continuing Ed located on our Region 5 Website b. Launching the Local Center CEU Collaboratives to help our certified professionals get their CEU s c. Tip of the month 31 pre-recorded webinars. 7) Set expectation for what needed to be discussed and accomplished in the state/area meetings at 5:00. GET involved in discussions about center/member outreach ad support and promoting EAAT in your area. a. State/area meeting b. Local Center CEU Collaborates. c. Because some areas will not have many members; I. Mississippi and TN will meet together II. Puerto Rico members will join GA ** Tania will share with the GA meeting the great outreach that they did in PR. To help GA get inspired. III. N and S. Florida will meet together 8) Audrey Adamson was introduced as the Region 5 Rep nominee for the term. Local schools & radio talk show 5000 Local OT post grad classroom about hippotherapy 25 people Three schools fairs about the benefits for EAA&T 500 people Butterflies and Bandanas Festival and Special Olympics people PATH Intl. booth and PATH Intl banner representing EAA&T and PATH centers AL. Horse Fair - booth and banner (6,500 Attendees) Southeastern Rodeo & Livestock Expo (15,000 people in attendance) Puerto Rico Horse Show (5,000 people attended). Booth in the medical and science campus at the U. of Puerto Rico. (500 people in attendance) Pasa Fino Horse Show - (Attendance was over 200 participants.) OT, SLP, Physical Therapists booth (50 people in attendance. PATH Intl. Parents and Professionals brochures were on display and available (with inserts listing local PATH centers) at: Many of the above conferences Chattanooga Autism Fair (about 500 attendees) Co-Sponsored EAA&T related events Stirrups and Strides Florida Challenge Show - Over 10 centers and 100 riders competed and over 300 people in attendance. The PATH Intl. banner was hung and PATH was listed in the program and announced as a sponsor. Chris Irwin Training Workshop for EAA&T Efforts to add more PATH Intl mentors to Region 5 Hosted a PATH Intl. Mentor Workshop at our Region Conference and provides 9 partial scholarships. Encouraged attendance to Region Conference targeting first time attendees.
