3 Virkaanastujaisesitelmä pidetään Otaniemessä, Teknillisen korkeakoulun Tuotantotalouden osastolla luentosalissa TU2, toukokuun 22. päivänä 2007 kello aiheesta Teknistaloudellinen tutkimus ja tietoverkot Esitelmää kuulemaan kutsun kunnioittavasti Teknillisen korkeakoulun opettajia, virkamiehiä ja opiskelijoita sekä muita tieteiden harjoittajia, suosijoita ja ystäviä. 4 Teknillisen korkeakoulun rehtori päätti , että Sähkö- ja tietoliikennetekniikan osastolle tietoverkkolaboratorion vastuualueelle sijoitetun professorin viran nro opetusala on tietoverkkotekniikka. Opetusala täsmennettiin seuraavasti: Tietoverkkotekniikka, erityisesti tietoverkkoliiketoiminta. Virkaa hakivat päättyneen määräajan kuluessa TkT Heikki Hämmäinen ja TkT Jarkko Vuori. Sähkö- ja tietoliikennetekniikan osaston tieteellinen neuvosto pyysi asiantuntijalausunnot viran hakijoiden kelpoisuudesta ja ansioista seuraavilta: professori Erik Skouby (Technical University of Denmark) ja professori Costas A. Courcoubetis (Athens University of Economics and Business). Sähkö- ja tietoliikennetekniikan osaston tieteellinen neuvosto teki kokouksessaan virkaehdotuksen, jossa se asetti ensimmäiselle ehdokassijalle TkT Heikki Hämmäisen ja toiselle ehdokassijalle TkT Jarkko Vuoren. Korkeakoulun hallitus nimitti kokouksessaan TkT Heikki Hämmäisen tietoverkkotekniikan professorin virkaan nro pysyvästi lukien.
