2 ATTENTION ALL NURSES: Get On The Train!!! Enhance your professional growth and development by attending the Broward Health s Charge Nurse Certification program. Participation in this leadership development program will provide you with the basic skill set necessary to perform the role of a charge nurse. This program is the ideal for any registered nurse who: Currently performs the role of charge nurse Desires advancement into a leadership role Struggles with the day to day issues of delegation, communication, risk management, staffing, teamwork, time management, and prioritization. What Is The Charge Nurse Certification Program? The Certification Program is designed to provide a pathway for the professional growth and development of our current and future charge nurses that is linked to existing Leadership University programs and services provided by Broward Health. The Charge Nurse Certification Program consists of the following classes: A Z of Taking Charge Clinical Coach Managing Conflict Effective Delegation Making the Transition to Supervision Team Building Eligibility Criteria: A person can be referred into the program by their nurse manager. Applications are available through each of the Regional Clinical Education Departments. How Do I Enroll? (Charge Nurse Certification Program) Complete a Broward Health Leadership University (BHLU) Admission Form and return the completed form to your Nurse Manager.

4 Leadership Development Admission Packet Broward Health Leadership University (BHLU) professional development programs biannually admit students in the Spring and Fall. The Leadership Ladder consists of 4 certifications: Core Certification Intermediate Certification Advance Certification Charge Nurse Certification (only complete the Leadership Development Admission Form pg. 2) Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible for admission into one of the leadership university programs, you must: Successful completion of one year of employment (exceptions case-by-case) No corrective actions within six months Satisfactory performance appraisal scores Succession Planning Component (promotability) Manager & Director, etc (2 management levels) signed approval To Apply (exception Charge Nurse Certification): 1. Complete the online Leadership Development Admission Packet (Charge Nurse Certification only complete the Leadership Development Admission Form on pg.2) 2. Forward completed application to Ruth S. Vasquez for acceptance in the program.
